Help with wiki maintenance

Looking for help with the wiki

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for a few users who’d be willing to help keep the wiki up to date. It doesn’t have to be a big time commitment, just making sure things stay accurate and easy to follow for new users.

I’m sure most of you would prefer that I keep adding features than updating that wiki, but as the app evolves and is complex, the Wiki is an integral part of the experience.

If you’re interested or have ideas for improvements, feel free to reply here or reach out directly. Every bit helps.

Thanks in advance to anyone willing to give a hand.

I would be willing to help. How would this work?
Do we get edit permissions or is there a system like in git with Pull Requests?

It’s a permission to edit here.

You can use AI or anything to help.
Only constraints are that text and images must be in relatively proper and simple English, and that updates related to new features in beta must be delayed until everything is out of beta.

Thanks for the proposal, if you confirm I can give you the perm and see.

I’ll chip in where I can

Thanks, I’ve added you do the group.

My free time is sporadic but I’d love to help

I’d be keen to help! If you still need people!

Thanks both, I’ve added you to the group.

There’s already a lot of outdated stuff, but since there’s more people than anticipated, you may want to add a tag on the posts you intend to or are updating to avoid multiple people doing the same thing.

Before I touch anything how exactly are tags added?

I was browsing here at options that looked new to me but I wasn’t exactly sure

The edit button near the title.

I’ve made some slight edits to the now playing screen wiki.

Please let me know if this is sufficient, also are there any settings we should skip?

I noticed in the original “Do not crop cover art” was not a setting that was further explained.
Should I skip settings like “Ignore camera hole…”?

You can check what page is used where from the app with the help buttons.

Settings - Interface - Now playing screens is called from the root now playing screen and for the compact button page.

So should have the full settings for both + for the expanded pages a link to the actual one Settings - Now playing - Expanded player

Most things should be described with all parameters and the data that is outdated should be removed.

This Where to find these settings: Settings → Interface → Now Playing Screens should not be necessary as it’s contained in the title of the page.

So that page should have the title updated as I moved the options (I’ll do it)

Ahh, so in the wiki i’ve edited I should keep explanations to:
•The new save, export / import features of the NPS
• The compact player settings in full (not including features still in beta)

• we’ll 86 the “where to find…”
• update titles to reflect application navigation

and in this case we’ll be linking this wiki to the expanded player wiki

CAN DO

speaking of BETA I did notice we are in beta 4, history suggests the newest version is just around the corner) Is it possible to save edits that don’t publish until later, or can a draft be published on your end? I have some time today so I can draft it all up & paste it in later but if there’s a better way i’m all ears.

Not really you can create a new unlisted page and have a copy there.

You can edit a page then hide the revision, but it’s very very error prone, so better stay to simple things.
