Use Symfonium as a media renderer/Target

Feature description:

Use Symfonium as a target for playing back files.

Problem solved:

No real problem

Brought benefits:

I assume both of these benefits :

  • 1°) better compatibility between “Symfonium remote” (on smartphone" and “Symfonium renderer” on playback device.
  • 2°) use of the refined UI of Symfonium instead of sometimes ugly/awkward UI of other apps used as a renderer.

Other application solutions:

I think that some other software can do that :

  • unless mistaken, mConnect can be used as a remote media browser AND as a renderer ;
  • unless mistaken, Bubble UPnP can be used as remote media browser and as a renderer ;
  • unless mistake, so does Neutron…

Additional description and context:

Of course… it is not a madatory feature and it might be difficult to implement.

If you want to play back music on the phone where Symfonium is installed, why don’t you just do local playback?

Hi,

It seems I have not explained my problem clearly.

I have Fiio R9 with a USB Key attached and powered by Android 12.
On that device I have installed Emby server and indexed my whole music library in Emby server.

From the smartphone with Symfonium I would like to be able to play the music FROM the FIio R9 TO the Fiio R9. In other words, to use the Symfonium app on the smartphone as a remote control to playback music that I would see listed from the Emby Server and then played back on the R9 but driven by the smartphone and sent to Symfonium installed on the R9 (instead of UAPP, Bubble or mConnect…)

So musci will not be played locally on the smartphone. I hope this makes things more clear.

Enable UPnP server in UAPP and it will work, Symfonium can cast to it.

Hi,

Thanks for your answer.
I know I can do that.
But I run into problems with that solution.
Because if I hit “Pause” then “Resume” will not always happen (and it does not more often that it does).
And because it seems that Emby server has some difficulties finding the UAPP UPnP renderer.
But of course if you consider this to be a non problem, I’ll continue to use UAPP or mConnect or Neutron as a target, not a problem…
Regards.
FRED

You can use Symfonium for that you know ?

Connect to Emby and cast to UAPP.

Hi,
In a previous post, I wrote that this is what I do. And there are a lot of other ways to do this : connect to Emby with Emby, mConnect, Bubble, UAPP and from those apps cast the stream to UAPP, mConnect, Bubble…

As I said, doing what you describe causes problems because resume won’t work after I pause the playback.
Also, connection to UAPP is often “lost” by Emby server.

But anyways, it looks like no one needs/wants this beside me.
So please forget my request.
I’ll do with UAPP or Neutron as a renderer.

And use Symfonium as a remote control to access Emby server and cast to UAPP or Neutron… and restart playback from next song after a pause and restart Emby server when it looses connection to UAPP.

Hoped that I could use the landscape mode from Symfonium because I find it’s about the best of all (and mConnect won’t allow Landscape nor does Bubble because the Fiio R9 does not have an orientation sensor…) and that it would be more reliable than UAPP, but no problems…
It was pure covenience and I can live without it, especially if that requires a lot of work for you

Thanks for taking time to reply.

Love Symfonium… It’s the best

So you know how to do exactly what you want and seems to maybe have an issue ?

Then open an issue about that with logs and details?

Hi,

No I have no issue, or at least none that is related to Symfonium.

The “Pause” and “Resume” works perfectly with Neutron. So the problme is about UAPP not Symfonium.
But Neutron has an horrible “Landscape” mode :frowning:

Bubble and mConnect also do not have a forced landscape mode. So I don’t want to use them even though I know I can use them.

Anyways, forget it : I made a mistake. I thought Symfonium had a “forced landscape” mode, but I misinterpreted that “Mini player (Landscape)” setting. It will remain in portrait mode if the device has no orientation sensor.

So UAPP is my best option anyways…

EDIT : yes there is a forced landscape mode under “Advanced settings”… My bad. So having Symfonium used as a renderer on the Fiio R9 would be nice, but obviously not on schedule :frowning: UAPP it stays then
