iTunes sync

Feature description:

I am impressed by your app and I’m considering purchasing the full version. I have a large iTunes library on a Windows PC. Is there some way to sync my iTunes library to my Android phone? Alternatively, if I copy my iTunes library to my phone’s music folder, will your app properly read the folder and show all of my albums and the metadata attached to the various music files including artwork? Thank you

You may need to upload a few files from your library so the dev can look at what you plan to insert into the app. A good test for you would be to simply copy some of your files to an android phone phone with the app & see what happens. Check what tags are available/ read, album art & all that good stuff.

I’d assume you should be fine but im not sure what itunes libraries are like. Worse case scenario if you have a specific tag that is not being read properly/ at all you can make a feature request for that tag or you could use a program like mp3tag to alter / copy that tag into a format Symfonium does read. The good thing about having very consistent tags across a library is you can usually make library wide changes very quickly for simple tags.

On a side note my mom has an old mac 2014-2015 ish & id like to export her itunes library. She has since bought a new mac & has an android phone so if there’s a way to export her whole library I’d love to know. Also can you still purchase music from itunes or are you just upkeeeping the tracks youve already purchased?

My iTunes library remains relatively unchanged, although I periodically upload music to it, usually from CD.

I used to use isyncr, which was great, but it was sold to a new developer who is basically a crook and it is no longer properly supported.

By the way, this is my first post: does the developer look at these, and will he respond to my queries??

No the dev is a total jerk

Anyway the app have nothing special for iTunes, you can either install a proper media provider on your PC like Navidrome to serve the media so Symfonium can access it.
Or you can use the tool you want to copy the media to the phone and Symfonium will then read the tags and build the library from them.

For a long time I used the tracks managed via iTunes and just copied them over to be parsed by Kodi and then served to Symfonium. It will even work without the intermdiary and by just directly copying the track to your phone. iTunes writes all tags properly into the files (except for last played date, favorite status etc., for which no standard tags exist, and those infos are stored in the iTunes library database only) so that they can be parsed by any other player. If you add or change something be sure to close iTunes before copying the files, because some information seems to be only written into the files when the iTunes app is finished.

When I have time I will test the following: copy my iTunes music folder to the music folder on my phone, and then let the app parse the folder and create a library.
