Is there a way to tie my home network to the primary connection & on any other network use the secondary connection?

Issue description

Hi there,
I’ve found Symfonium fairly overwhelming in features and UI/UX so I’m fairly overwhelmed. My attempts to find the answer searching the forums hasn’t quite returned the results I was hoping for & my last post on this was a few months ago (Trouble with Primary/Secondary Connections using Subsonic) so i’m wondering if the needle has moved on this capability or someone has another solution in place that might work.

I have a lot of hi res audio on my home server. I would prefer when home, on my home network, to have my music served up locally. When I’m not on my home network, I would like to use my domain. The subsonic connections are configured correctly - primary using my local domain, secondary using my domain, with the credentials provided. There doesn’t seem to be a way to say “use this connection on this network” much like nzb360 has. I’ve got tasker setup as a work around but it’s far from graceful & cagey - a lot of times i’m offline so i only get the music i’ve cached.

I’ve got the paid version of the app in case that matters. FWIW, i also put my uncle on the paid version - he uses his google drive and that’s worked flawlessly for him - but he doesn’t have a local copy in the same way i do.

If this truly isn’t possible, I will put in a feature request - but this has been such a huge pain point for me - that i’m hoping it’s already solved. It’s hard to use the program when my music decides to intermittently go in and out due to the app and not because of my services. I do not want to stream music going outside my network when I’m home.

Logs were shared via the app with support. I turned on debugging and sent them. Then played a song while on wifi. Disconnected wifi, and then the song i wanted was no longer available so i just played something else. submitted the logs again. Currently, the app is using my domain and sure enough - the music isn’t there.

Device type

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open
  2. Play music
  3. If home - works fine
  4. If remote - sometimes works, sometimes doesnt (in which case i only have access to my cache.

You have enabled automatic offline mode option you probably should not in that case.

And since version 15 you also want to stop using the tasker workaround and let the app do it automatically.

Thanks for the feedback. i’ve disabled the offline feature and disabled tasker. That said - how does the service know which wifi connection is my home? i looked for a place ot set it but didn’t see it.

No yes if you need specific wifi handling you still need tasker. Google requires precise location permission for that and that’s not a permission users would understand for a music app.

I’ll fix the race with tasker doing it at the same time at the app.

Sounds good. I have disabled tasker and sure enough, symfonium is still hugging on for dear life to the secondary connection, despite me being home and on my own network. For what it’s worth - in Nzb360, where connect to several of my services - there are settings for setting a local ip address and a local network address. so i just enable local connection switching - that’s the kind of functionality that would be killer here.

If you’d like more logs from me, i’ll gladly submit them.
