How can I pay for symfonium without google play?

Hi @tolriq, I intend to congratulate your work, I am already a happy owner of an emby license, for this reason I wondered, wouldn’t it be possible to buy and activate symfonium on the same account? Thanks for everything and good day.

Symfonium is not related to Emby so no idea what you are meaning here.

Forgive me, you know I was convinced I had read somewhere that you were also working on the Emby project, perhaps right in the Emby forum, but evidently I was wrong… Having established this, would it be possible to access your app with an account, independently without going through Google and without bothering you every time I install the app between my devices and those of my family? Thanks for everything

Well no there’s none sorry.

Too bad, it would have been comfortable, I would also be willing to pay more for a similar mode. I will organize myself to understand how to do it with Google, thanks anyway and congratulations for your work I appreciate.

One day Google will not be a monopoly that can ban me from Play Store and things will be simpler

I hope that this day will come early, who knows that Trump can speed up all this, we are patiently waiting for the river and we will see what will happen, many beautiful things

Excuse my ignorance…but under the changelog there is this " * Try again to update Google Billing libraries as it will soon be forced, please report any Play Store license or purchase issues."

Does this mean alternate paid solution won’t work moving forward?

This sounds like exactly what the EU slapped Apple for

This is unrelated to alternate solution.

Great this method exists. Do we have any info on what this app shares? I guess it doesn’t need any permissions except networking and there’s no need for it to be phoning home, yes?
Thanks!

Regular online license checks are necessary. You can disable crash reports and usage statistics (both already anonymized) if you want. If you ever want support, you will need to let your pants down and send logs

i already paid via play store, but every few weeks the app stops working due my device being mainly offline, would this method of activation avoid this issue? if so i will happily donate

It works the same, but the delay should increase the more successful validations are made.

unfortunately that doesn’t help my use case then :disappointed:

After a couple of month the checks are like every 6 months so should not really be an issue.

Thanks Google for refunding users on my behalf many months after purchase for absolutely no reasons or legal reasons …

yeah i get that, but i will never reach it, because as i said my device is online only when i need to cache new media locally, and that happens only a few times a year, so basically every 2-3 weeks i get a random interruption of service because it needs to check the license, which i have, it’s quite annoying

just consider that given the option i would donate considerably more to have an offline version with no need to validate every X, but i am aware that probably doing this is not worth or even risky for you.

So, are the checks necessary because you’re worried about people abusing refunds? If so, tbh I’d prefer more frequent (and random) checks that by default presume the license is still valid if the device is offline or otherwise can’t reach Google or something (maybe increase the check frequency if there’s a failure). I imagine the checks could be problematic if someone was visiting (or straight up moved to) China without a functioning VPN for instance.

It’s already assumed ok and with large delays and frequent rechecks. License fails after a very long grace period that increase with time.
