DAC hardware volume set

Feature description:

To be able to set the DAC volume to some value other than default since some have pretty low defaults (or to just use max by default).

Problem solved:

I have an Apple 3.5mm to USB-C DAC and it’s much more quiet (on a Samsung phone) than other DACs I used before. It seems to be a known issue:

Brought benefits:

Broader hardware compatibility.

Other application solutions:

Neutron Music Player and UAPP seem to be able to change DAC volume (if I’m not mistaken).

Screenshots / Mockup:

USB Dac handling in Android is broken, they added some more support in Android 14 and yet Android 15 will be out before any OEM including Google have added support on their devices …

The workaround can be to use Symfonium EQ and configure pre amp based on connected device.

I had the same issue with exactly the same device setup (Apple DAC on Samsung phone) and mitigated that by setting the preamp to +3dB in Symfonium. The only issue is that very loud music gets some audible distortion through clipping then. I found +3dB an acceptable compromise, any higher value would produce too much clipping. On the long term, I switched to another DAC though (which has other problems…).
