Yeah I’m seeing this too lol.

If you were in the Beta program, you were actually on a Beta version. They silently pushed out app v14.1.1 a few weeks ago. (You may have noticed the new buttons in the app to take you directly to the Styles website.)

Guess we just have to wait for Google now.

How annoying. Yes I saw the change of buttons also but didnt think much of it.

I really hope the latest beta gets pushed in next few hours, as symfonium will be needed today to host the music for a party :grimacing:

Luckily I have some other devices as backup…

Just reading the other thread on this, restoring an app backup may not restore fully? Just a heads up.

Ok thanks for heads up. I wont be doing that and will just wait it out.

Same issue here, using /e/os and MicroG. The app is at the latest available version. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, didn’t work.

So far, I have been very satisfied with the app, amazed even how many features it has and how often updates are released.

A mandatory update that blocks me from listening to my music, however, errodes the trust that I had in the app. I want my music NOW. I want to listen to music NOW. Why am I not allowed to do so? Do you really expect me to find and download an alternative until you get your deployments in order?

Sorry for being so angry. It’s just that I am relying on the app a lot, and I’m afraid I have to dial back that trust. It’s a shame, as the app is worth every penny.

Pipe down. This is literally the first occurrence of this ever happening… Always be prepared for technology to fail without prior warning.

Also, you should never rely on a BETA version for mission-critical stuff. If you can’t handle the app potentially completely breaking at times, you shouldn’t be on the Beta.

(Mind you I’m not a dev, just a user.)

  1. There’s no mandatory updates if you are not in Beta …
  2. You are in beta with tons of warning everywhere about potential risks …

So don’t do things that say it might break, then go full Karen when once in 4 years it breaks ???

If you don’t want to leave beta https://repo.symfonium.app/ you can use adb to force install a previous version.

It’s understandable that people are upset when simply want to listen to music with an app that worked perfectly fine mere hours ago, and now they are greeted by this un-skippable screen.

Moving forward, can’t the app be configured to continue to work, even with a new beta available?

hi,
i understand your point about leaving or not the beta. i have the same issue, BUT, according to google playstore, i’m not in the beta program. shoul i join?

No the whole issue is that the current beta doesn’t work, so why would you join it?

If you left recently, you would still be on the Beta version. Check your app version in your phone’s settings. If it says 14.1.1, then that’s the Beta. (The normal version is 14.1.0)

Only do the following if you have a recent backup of your data! Since you are not in the Beta program, you can simply uninstall the app and reinstall it from Play Store to get the normal version. Then restore your backup and all should be well.

Otherwise you’ll need to follow Tolriq 's steps above to downgrade your app version without uninstalling.

phone says 14.1.1.
i dont remeber haviong left the beta recently. nor even joined it at the beginning..
i made a backup when i changed phone about 2 months ago. i’ll try to fond it.

thanks

So I was able to recover from this by uninstalling the app entirely, and then re-installing it from Aurora Store. Unfortunately, I was unable to find my backup (which, wouldn’t you know it, I’ve created just yesterday), but I was unable to - that’s on me for sure.

After setting up the app again, I was delighted to learn that Symfonium seems to sync my ratings/favorites reliably.

For the future, I’m going to make sure not to join the beta ever, to avoid this inconvenience.

Thanks for the effort you’re putting into this app - I appreciate it.

Just to confirm, I can just wait for next beta right? I quickly tried the adb commands but no success and dont have time to look into it deeper right now.

Most likely yes, the next Beta should be fine whenever it shows up. I will be waiting as well.

cant find my backup … but i tried to install on another phone. and everything is back. playlists, fav songs etc. just the custom theme i made is missing. so, i guess i can juste reinstall and customize my theme again

This doesnt work from my testing. :frowning:

adb install -r -d path/to/apk
