Beta version expired before new beta is available

When I ran into the problem, I fully expected to see something saying, “Dear customers and dutiful beta testers, sorry for the inconvenience. It was an oversight on my part and I’m trying to rectify it ASAP.” How that isn’t the case is flabbergasting.

Suddenly the screen popped up, I saw an update, updated the app but the issue is still there

Yes Karen, I’m actually in my jet to go to Google headquarters with a gun to force them to publish the beta version that was pushed 4 days ago …

You joined beta and accepted that this can happen there’s tons of message explaining that …
The issue is on Google side, but let’s not blame yourself or Google let’s blame the other guy it’s easier

Just curious here…

Does Google control the timer that forces a Beta out of an update window?

I’ve never seen this before with any app, so again, not piling on, just curious?

Which Android version are you on? It seems the command may not work on A14+

I’m on A13 and was able to successfully downgrade the app. (Though I had to jump through some other hoops since my adb setup is funky.)

I’ve pushed a version 14.1.2 on the fdroid repo so people can just update now.

Yes, they do. Google has some series of checks and verifications they do to make sure an app (or update) is “safe” before it becomes publicly available.

This verification process takes random amounts of time (depending on Google’s workload I guess) and there’s nothing the developer can do to speed that up.

It’s a common issue with bug fixes for console games too. You may find more info about it on that front.

I’m guessing it takes some time for the repo to update? Because I still don’t see it (either within fdroid (after refreshing) or in the repo web page).

Thanks for publishing it btw.

It’s there. I downloaded it and can confirm it works. (From Symfonium repo)

Developer Friend,

I think I’m blind   because I didn’t find the app there :grimacing: Who can help me?

I could swear that up to 3 minutes ago there was still the old version  Thanks man

Fdroid Push installed as it should.

I do have an issue with my backups restoring, will open another issue…

NM, I restored a backup from another device, lost all my play counts, but the restore process did work…

it works. hats off kind sir.

many thanks!

I just left beta and am restoring my back up on the stable release now.

Installing the APK worked perfectly, thank you for providing that option! Just curious, is there a reason these beta builds expire like this? Just trying to prevent people from using outdated/potentially broken versions?

Thank you very much, friend. I found and installed the app.

Hugs

Did that work for you? I saw a couple of posts where it didn’t restore settings. I’m thinking of doing the same.

That user said elsewhere that they messed up their own backups, it wasn’t an issue with the app.

Make sure you have access to your backup file BEFORE you do any uninstalling. If you don’t have the file and can’t open the app to export it, your backups may be removed when you uninstall.

Alternatively the 14.1.2 version that Tolriq made works correctly. You can just install that without risk of losing data. Then make an extra backup while in there and export the file to somewhere safe.

I’m that moron.

Restore works as it should if you haven’t corrupted your backups.
