I am very excited to have ABS supported in the app. I have been searching for an all-in-one media player to replace my Spotify usecases.
As such, my workflow is like so:
Music — Jellyfin
Audiobooks — Audiobookshelf
Podcasts — Audiobookshelf
Currently in Symfonium, Audiobooks are being displayed as Albums and Authors are Artists.
Problem solved
It is nice to have the option to listen to books in the app, but I’d prefer to have a “Books” tab and a “Podcasts” tab so that my Music library does not get muddled with Books/Podcasts.
That’s helpful. I didn’t think to use filters in that way, so I didn’t even search filter — my bad.
I still think it’s not exactly the ideal solution, but it is a good workaround.
Having a Books tab would be the preferred solution. A proper Books tab would also allow the front-end to not call books albums, chapters tracks, authors artists, etc.
Actually take time to use the feature and the application profile and see that you are maybe wrong ?
With app profiles you can have a different navigation pattern, different home, different now playing, everything tailored for audio books with the proper filter, and another profile for music with everything different it’s 2 apps in one app.
I’ve setup 2 app profiles intending to do as you wrote; Music and Audiobooks.
However, when switching between the 2 profiles, the only noticeable change that happens is that the global source filters are toggled (which affects the Smart Playlists whos source is set to “Inherit”).
That’s it, no saved Home page items, Now Playing customization, or any other setting.
Is there another setting that has to be enabled in order for app profiles to do as you have described?
