I’ve been talking about this issue with Tolriq in Reddit already.
I have around 50,000 flac files on my google drive, all with tags.
After finally managing to get the initial sync done over several days, I have found that almost 17,000 songs have no tags in the app.
I retagged some of the files and did a new sync and they were picked up fine. I also sent some of the original files (from before I retagged) to Toriq and they worked fine for them.
I’ve done several syncs with debug on and looked at the logs for the files without tags and I’m not seeing any errors or anything.
I’ve uploaded the log generated during my latest sync.
Logs:

Additional information:
Examples of some filenames that have no tags in the app:
01 - (if You’re Wondering if I Want You to) I Want You to.flac
01 - Adele - Chasing Pavements.flac
01 - Hyper Music.flac
There are almost 17,000 songs like this. They show as the filename in the app, instead of the song name and have no tags
Unfortunately the files are not rescanned in the logs, that means that they failed in some way that was not properly detected to mark them as to be rescanned
Can you try to rename a folder and rescan to see if they are properly scanned again ?
struggling to get a sync to complete again. It keeps dying after around 17 minutes. The log is suggesting a timeout. Seems strange that it’s consistently around the 17 minute mark. I think Google Drive is just a bit crap for this sort of thing.
Yeah I ran dontkillmyapp benchmark a few days ago and got a score of 100%, which I believe is good.
I gave Symfonium unrestricted battery usage and the next sync still died after 3 minutes. It’s a bit strange, this only started happening today. Previously my syncs would complete. They’d take around 40 minutes to an hour, but would always complete.
The good news is that the scan completed!
The bad news is that renaming a folder didn’t seem to force a rescan of the files inside.
Interestingly I see the new folder name (Muse - 2001 - Hyper Music - Feeling Good) mentioned in the log with the updated modifedTime, but in the app, when I go to one of the files such as 01 - Hyper Music.flac, it still shows the original folder name (Muse - Hyper Music - Feeling Good) in the file path in the details. The file still plays though.
I’ve uploaded the log generated during the latest scan, not sure if it will reveal much though.
I’ve got LMS set up and the initial scan completed now. I’m tempted to ditch Google Drive in the app and connect to LMS instead
Edit: Ok, done. Everything all set up using LMS now, much quicker and more reliable. I even tested it over my 5G connection through openvpn on my phone and songs start much quicker than Google Drive.
For artists, lms tries to read an artist.jpg file, expecting it to be placed at the longest common directory where the artist appears as a release artist.
It can also read a file that has the artist mbid as name, that can be placed anywhere.
