We’ve established that Symfonium itself cannot play DSD, but there are plenty of UPnP renderers (including USB Audio Player Pro locally on Android hardware that supports DSD). That being the case, it seems like Symfonium should be able to cast these DSD files natively to a renderer that supports DSD playback. However, currently, that is not the case. They are still converted to PCM during playback. Please consider adding this ability.
logs uploaded under “bendsdupnp” and here are screen shots showing the ability to play DSD native, and how Symfonium (or it could be Navidrome) forces PCM playback.
Call it whatever you want, at the end of the day the fact of the matter is that DSD goes in and PCM comes out.
I don’t understand your insistence on having such a hostile and confrontational attitude towards your users, you make such a big deal about how I “dare” tell you what behavior I’m observing and yet there you are in your own words saying there is transcoding. Excuse me for not knowing whether this is intended behavior or not. Per our last discussion, DSD is something you have no intention of supporting unless support is added upstream by Google. You get so bent out of shape and offended over the smallest, insignificant perceived transgressions. God forbid I dare submit a feature request instead of a bug report for a format that your app doesn’t support. Chill. I can only imagine what your blood pressure is like.
And you keep giving FLAC is not PCM, so no there’s no PCM out from Symfonium when casting… Never was and never will as it would plain stupid and inefficient …
I explain you there’s nowhere transcoding to PCM: You tell me there is with emphasis and … meaning that not only you know better, but I’m stupid to write that there’s not …
The issue is not feature request versus support, it’s your fucking insulting sentence and now you double down on it explaining me that yes there’s PCM …
My blood pressure is fine, I’m just tired of people acting like you do, and not even noticing how you act and trying to invert roles …
