Feature description:
It would be great if there was a widget button that went straight to the “Search” (and/or the “Albums” if easier to implement).
Often a specific track or album pops into my mind and this would be the fastest way to find and play it.
(I used Musicolet before which also provided a shortcut to the Search by long pressing the app icon in the launcher or on the home screen.)
Problem solved:
There currently is no widget button shortcut to discover a song or album.
The current widget button only allows shortcuts to “Track mix”, “Album mix”, “Playlist” and “Select media queue”. So the content played is either random or needs to predefined in advance.
Both “Track mix” and “Album mix” do not play well with my content as I have a lot of genres (and don’t like them mixed). As I always listen to either full albums or single tracks, I also don’t create Playlists. I always start with a specific track (which I need to be able to find) or an specific album.
For me the most important feature is the search.
Brought benefits:
For very large music collections the search is the most important feature. Direct access to the search from the home screen or launcher would be huge benefit for any user who knows his/her collection and often wants to play a specific content.
Other application solutions:
Musicolet has the search available on app icon long press. My launcher can also create shortcuts on the home screen for all the displayed buttons. Please see attached screenshot.
