When using Navidrome via Subsonic provider with automatic offline media cache it still seems to connect to navidrome when playing, is that expected behaviour?

Sorry for the long subject name, I have a Navidrome server and I have Symfonium pull from that via Subsonic but have enabled offline caching (as far as I can tell) and have synced all music so I can see all the music has been downloaded onto my device but it still seems to call the server when it is playing media, is this intended behaviour?

For example if I have all music synced and downloaded locally and I have wifi on and press play/skip forward etc I can hear the NAS connected to the Navidrome server reading, but I was expecting it would not connect up if it had the audio locally cached.

If I were to have same scenario but go into airplane mode (so no wifi/4g etc) and play, it plays audio file from cache without any connections to Navidrome.

So my question is how do I stop it trying to connect up when on wifi? I ideally want it to purely be an offline data source, so the only time I want it to connect is when it is syncing and downloading offline media, once thats all done I dont really want it connecting up again until I manually sync it.

I didnt want to raise this as a bug/FR as I honestly dont know if ive missed a setting somewhere or if this is intended behaviour etc.

No logs no chocolate;)

If the server is connected Symfonium sends the play status to the server but read from the cache.

Sorry do you mean logs on Symfonium or Navidrome? I cant seem to find any exposed logs to send from Symfonium if thats the case, if you can tell me how to access them happy to send them over.

From Navidrome I can see a lot of logs like this:

118b361043e4/hQcjUudxFc-008029 title=Opening user=[me]
time=“2025-10-02T16:59:11Z” level=info msg=“Streaming file” artist=“[some-artist]” bitRate=0 cached=false format=raw originalBitRate=124 originalFormat=opus requestId=118b361043e4/hQcjUudxFc-008030 title=[some-title] transcoding=false user=[me]

I have done a sync again to confirm everything is synced and its not flagging anything new to download, happy to check logs on SF side as I can see its saying its not cached in the Navidrome logs but that seems incorrect.

Well the forum tells you everything when you actually open a proper issue :wink:

Is this an actual issue though? I have raised issues before but they were not actually issues just me/others not understanding UX.

If this is an issue I am happy to copy and paste this to an issue, but if its not an issue I don’t want to raise one and then you close that saying “this isnt an issue, it works as intended”.

It’s probably an user Issue, but we can pass hours discussing all possible hypothetical cases, or you provide logs and details to be able to answer.
