USB Exclusive playback does not start

Issue description

When connected to an external DAC, Playback does not start when play is pressed.

On the same version downloaded from fdroid and using a Pixel 10 Pro Fold, the same DAC was able to play with symfonium.

Just switched phones today to a 11 Pro Fold and the USB exclusive playback no longer works. No firmware change for the DAC.

I was using navidrome before but I’m using lightweight music server now.

The DAC (Topping DX1 II) screen flashes between DSD on and off (and 44.1 and -32db) when play is pressed.

I started debug mode, then plugged in the device and pressed play. I later pressed play again. Then debug mode was turned off.

Two logs, one with old phone one with new phone

Old phone (10 Pro Fold) works just fine.

New phone (11 Pro Fold) doesn’t.

Both running Android 11, old phone has a 6.6 kernel and new phone 6.12

Does the dac works without usb exclusive ?

Have you installed the post release patch on the 11 fold ?

Yes it works with the other two non-usb exclusive options on the 11 Pro Fold.

Yes the system is up to date. Do you suspect it to be a system issue? I have also tried rebooting the phone a few times btw.

For what it’s worth the USB exclusive mode is really nice because then android stops yelling at me for listening at full volume on the phone (ofc DAC controls volume). The alert is apparently regulatory and impossible to turn off…

No it’s something changed in the kernel that I need to adapt to.

Will get my hands on a pixel 11 to repro and fix.
