I’ll do that. Thank you!
Hi guys, I was reading the thread looking for information on bit perfect and saw that many of you use UAPP, I had serious distortion problems with it and I suggest that those who use it, do a test with the tracks below:
“Assuming your system is actually capable of full 96kHz playback, the above files should be completely silent with no audible noises, tones, whistles, clicks, or other sounds. If you hear anything, your system has a nonlinearity causing audible intermodulation of the ultrasonics. Be careful when increasing volume; running into digital or analog clipping, even soft clipping, will suddenly cause loud intermodulation tones”

In any case, I don’t fully agree with the article because I can hear subtle differences between different quality files, especially from 16 to 24 bits, and I DON’T WANT to raise this kind of discussion here, please. But the tests (at least for me) are relevant.
Kind Regards.
Really need “direct USB access” or “native USB DAC playback”. This would make the app perfect for many, including me. Work on this Tolriq! Tired of everything getting sample down to 48kHz by Android.
I’m not sure your method of making demands is going to achieve what you’re looking for. Adding USB DAC support is far from trivial. An entire, novel, audio stack / driver would need to be written AND maintained… why do that when the next version of Android adds improved support for native sample rates via USB? Is your device even capable of playing sample rates other than 48k?
I use Symfonium on an iBasso DX180, which runs Android 14 with the SRC disabled, and Symfonium works perfectly with it. I can play any sample rate I want (other than DSD), so this is not a limitation of Symfonium, but the Android OS. If you can root your device, you can modify its sample rate conversion behavior. You can also run either USB Audio Play Pro or Neutron, both of which have their own, custom, USB drivers. Both those apps have the ability to act as UPnP renders…. which you can use Symfonium to play music through and get your “native USB DAC playback”
Honestly, what I would like to see, if possible…. and is a legitimate suggestion, would be for Tolriq to license the audio engine from UAPP or Neutron (I believe it is possible to do so), and then sell it as an in app purchase upgrade. If DSD support and native USB DAC support could be added that way, it would likely be not a ton of extra work to add to Symfonium, would keep the strange few like us that care to have these features happy, and could even generate a bit of extra revenue. I do believe that Roon uses the UAPP USB driver for it’s Android app.
EDIT: It’s the high res direct driver that I want
There’s a USB driver, which the fellow above would want, but the direct driver would give DSD support on my device…. I say sell both as separate in-app purchases ![]()
Hey buddy, sorry for the late reply, but I’ve been doing a lot of research and testing!
Want some advice? Go for the PC. I’m using musicBee, and honestly? I never thought the KA17 + FiiO FT1 would be so good. The sound is perfect, clean, crystal clear, everything working as it should.
I’m using WASAPI, I found it better than the ASIO driver.
I still use Android + Symfonium on my phone, but to really listen to music I use Windows.
And another thing, a lot of people are deluded about UAPP. I’ve already posted links here on the forum with files that show the huge distortion it causes, at least in my setup.
Cheers.
I agree, Android is the problem. Symfonium is a great app.
UAPP there’s a lot of distortion. Try playing the same songs on your PC and you’ll hear the difference. As for Neutron, it’s simply impossible to use this app’s interface. I want to enjoy my music, not stress myself out.
Roon cut always to 48 kHz, I tested it in poco F7 pro, android 15.
Regards.
For those who want to test MusicBee on Windows, follow the steps in the video below to enable BITPERFECT.
Interesting, I haven’t had any distortion issues with UAPP. Whatever settings you’re using are probably the issue, there’s a lot that can be configured / configured incorrectly in UAPP.
I agree, the UI of Neutron isn’t the best…. it’s not bad, it’s just not very easy to figure out how to get it set up in a way that I like. I could use it if I had to. However, what I’m suggesting is using Neutron as a UPNP renderer, which will give you direct access to your USB DAC, and then use Symfonium as the player to send your music to Neutron (with the UPNP feature). This is currently exactly what I’m doing to get DSD playback working with Symfonium.
Just fire up Neutron in the background, with its UPNP renderer enabled, then select it as the output in Symfonium; then use Symfonium as usual. You should be able to do the same thing with your USB DAC.
Is that ARC or the regular Roon app? I thought one of them worked properly…. I could be wrong, I stopped using Roon a long time ago.
Thanks a lot for the tip.
Arc in eval version.
Yes maybe is my setup, the music “The Maze from Mustii), is an example that reproduces audible clicks.
Clicks would suggest you need to increase a buffer somewhere.
