I’ve added the TITLESORT, ALBUMSORT, ARTISTSORT and ALBUMARTISTSORT tags to my MP3s and FLACs. When I select “sort name” in the artist and album artist view in the library, it works as expected. However, it does not work in the songs and “all albums” view. If I select “sort title” there, the listing stays the same as when sorted by title.
Am I using the wrong tags?
Example 1: David Bowie - “Heroes”
The song and album are named “Heroes” (with quotation marks), which are also set as the TITLE and ALBUM tags respectively. Because of the quotation mark at the start, it appears as the first song and first album in their respective library view. To mitigate this I’ve added the ALBUMSORT, TITLESORT and TITLESORTORDER tags with a value of Heroes (without quotation marks) to make the song/album appear with other songs/albums under “H”. This has not worked, even though the sort order is set to Title sort.
Example 2: “Wierd Al” Yankovic
With “Wierd Al” Yankovic, we have the same problem as with “Heroes”: Due the quotation marks, he appears as the first entry in the Artist and Album Artist library view when the ARTIST and ALBUM ARTIST tags are set with quotation marks. I set the ALBUMARTISTSORT and ARTISTSORT tags to the name without quotes, and here the artist shows up correctly sorted under “W” when the Sort name option is selected.
I think those two examples should sufficiently showcase the problem.
I’ve uploaded the files to the upload server with the description “TheJanzap - “Title Sort” on songs & albums not working example files”
Ok so I forget to support song sort title in the tag parser, will be fixed. (And extracted the wrong tag for xiph tag format for album sort order, will fix too).
