Tab bar only on left side on Tablet, instead of bottom like phone

Issue description:

I use Symfonium primarily on my Pixel 6, while I’m out in the world. However, when listening to music at home, I’d like to control it via my tablet, a Lenovo Tab 9. It works very well, but the only problem is the appearance of the tab bar is on the left side of the screen instead of the bottom, like my phone. This makes it less intuitive to navigate, as my muscle memory wants me to touch the icons at the bottom of the screen, while on the tablet I often accidentally trigger them at the side.

I’ve attached images to illustrate the difference, and uploaded my log from the tablet, via the app.

Yes on larger tablets this is the Google recommendation and default.

While I understand the difference between phone and tablet you usually still don’t handle the tablet in the same way as your phone.

Moving away from Google defaults will make my life way harder when adding support for foldables and the now playing rewrite, so I’d really like to avoid that.

Hm, fair enough I guess. It still drives me nuts. Do you think there’s any way I can kind of spoof it into displaying the phone layout? Due to the way I hold my tablet I often accidentally press those tab buttons on the side and it’s extremely annoying.

I don’t think so, I’ve not read the code but I guess it’s based on window size and ratios.
