I really like how Symphonium manages the media libraries and was wondering if there was an app that works exactly like Symphonium but instead of playing music, it’s an image gallery. Hence I organise my pictures similar as my music that would be awesome.

Possible without building an extra media server?
I use an app called Eagle File Manager for pictures & videos. You can add tags. Descriptions & even annotations to photos & videos. The video annotations can be linked to specific timestamps like synced lyrics. Unfortunately there’s no mobile version so it’s PC or Mac only for the moment but I really like it & it & everything is offline.its 20-30 bucks for two devices & it keeps me very organized. There’sno longer free unlimited storage & your storage limit has been reached. 
It can also host other file types like documents Adobe suite files & even music (i wouldn’t suggest it for music though)
