Symfonium can't find album title from Jellyfin

App version

Production

Issue description

Symfonium doesn’t recognise the album titles from Jellyfin. It is empty, or it displays the folder’s name instead.

Device type

Phone

Media provider

Jellyfin

Steps to reproduce

  1. In your /media/music folder, choose a random track song. It should NOT be in a folder, so Jellyfin recognizes it as a standalone track. Use mp3tag to verify the “album” tag is not empty.

  2. Open Symfonium and import/sync from Jellyfin as a media provider.

  3. Go to to Settings>Interface>Now Playing>Portrait, scroll down to “Control and Information”, set one of the String values (3 by default) is set to Album or %album%

  4. Go back to the Symfonium library. Start playing the song and look at the now playing screen. The song’s track name and artist are visible, but not album name.

  5. NOTE: When a track is in a folder, Symfonium will display its folder name instead of the embedded album title

Symfonium shows the data that Jellyfin returns via it’s API. There’s still a couple of bugs on their side that they ignore.

Thank you for your response. Is there a work around I could try? I tried importing my Jellyfin media to Finamp and the album titles carried over. I tried messing with the Custom strings to look for the album title, but nothing came up. I could get out other tags like genre and composer, only album is acting quirky.

There’s no workaround with acceptable performance for their API issues.
