Switching media providers from Google Drive to Plex

I’ve been using Symfonium for about 9 months now and really love it.

When I shifted my music collection from local files on my phone to a better solution so I could access my music on my computers, I started using Google Drive as a media provider. This has worked out pretty well so far, and, at the time, I didn’t mind going back through my collection and re-favoriting things.

Now I’m considering migrating my collection to Plex or Jellyfin and I don’t like the idea of having to re-favorite my collection, losing play history, etc.

If I move my collection wholesale from Google Drive to Plex, then set that as my Media Provider in Symfonium, what will happen? Will I lose all my favorite, play history, etc? Or is there a migration process so I can just switch?

There’s no migration, but you can export the data from Symfonium and build a tool with llms to import it to the target server.

Does the exported data live in some structured format (JSON, YAML, etc)? If so, yeah, I can work with that.

json inside a zip, use the backup function and select user data.
