String Action for "Go to All Artists"

Feature description

Right now, we have separate actions for “Go to Artists”, “Go to Album Artists”, and “Go to Composers”.

Would it be possible for you to add a “Go to All Artists” option, which would combine the three lists of artists into a single menu?

Problem solved

As you may know, my NPS theme attempts to support all audio types in a single theme. We can change the text displayed easily enough, but tap actions are not dynamic.

For music, my string shows Album Artist + Artists. But for audiobooks, it shows Album Artist + Composer (since that’s how Audible & audiobookshelf handle the tags).

So for the string action, I’m forced to choose to go to Artists or Composers, breaking navigation flow for one type of media.

Brought benefits

Better support for dynamic layouts

Ability to navigate to all involved artists from a single action

Additional description and context

Screenshot shows existing “Go to Artists” action when multiple performing artists are present.

My goal would be for the new “Go to All Artists” action to open a menu just like this one, that lists album artists, performing artists, and composers all together.

For a bonus, the icons to the left of the names could change to show the artist type. (Library page already uses different icons for the different types.) That would be enough to distinguish the types in a combined list, in my opinion.

Not really possible as an artist can be the 3 and to properly navigate down it would require to show it 3 times, that sounds far from nice.

I see… I would think filtering out matching names could fix that, but I guess you’d have to check for MusicBrainz ID’s too…

But if filtering were to be done, shouldn’t you be able to fill the list with (for example) performing Artists first, and then add any Album Artists and Composers that don’t match the ID’s/names already there?

The regular Artist page should work fine for all three types as the page to navigate to. “Composed by” can already be toggled there, and Album Artists are not treated differently from performing Artists, as far as I know.

Sure does sound like a hassle though! No worries if this idea gets put on the back burner. For now my theme will continue to prefer the music layout.
