Sonos interesting volume issue - coordinator volume unavailable

App version

Issue description

I have been using Symfonium a lot and really like it. I play music back through a Sonos group and am able to adjust the individual speaker volumes with the app. However (see screenshot) the coordinator (primary) speaker has no volume control. I have to open the Sonos app to control it… The controller is often “zeroed out” in Sonos when I look there.

Notice that “Salon One” has no volume control. In Sonos it IS active and it IS coordinating and playing back but is not controllable in Symfonium.

**
To be clear (it clearly isn’t or I am a poor communicator), I have no issue controlling group volume via the on screen slider. I do want to control individual volume. I am able to do that via the Play On screen for all but the controller. I must open the Sonos app to adjust that one speaker.

icebox500 sonos volume

The app volume control controls the group, just change the volume inside Symfonium via the volume buttons of the phone or add the volume bar to now playing.

Currently, you can adjust each room separately - that is desirable.

In the current UI, you can adjust all BUT the controller. The controller is unavailable for individual adjustment.

This is the crux of my ticket, not overall volume control. If I am missing something in the UI, please clarify.

You probably should actually try to read my answer first

I’m quite literate, actually. I do not follow (obviously) your initial response. Perhaps you could try again?

To be clear I DO control the volume via the app volume slider. My comment has nothing to do with that.

You do not refer to my answer nor say what you tested about it or what part you do not understand.

The coordinator have no volume slider in the cast dialog as it’s controlled by the app globally as all the other devices.

Use the app volume buttons as said or add the volume slide to now playing screen also as said to control the group.

I appreciate that you want to help but you seem simply interested in telling me what I’m doing wrong vs understanding my question or asking follow up questions. That doesn’t help the community.

Its simple - take a look at your own app and see if it is the same.

Start playback to a Sonos group. Tap the Play on button. Adjust the volume of ONE group member (let’s say, it’s too loud in your kitchen). That works. However, in MY case, the actual controller (Salon) cannot be individually adjusted.

If you are not able to help or you do not understand my issue, that is fine. I will wait.

Thanks.

And again you do not read anything that’s insane …

Close the cast dialog, use the volume buttons of your phone and it will control the … group.

Add the volume slider to the now playing screen and change volume there it will control the … group.

I perfectly understand your request, so can you at least pretend to read what I write ?

The volume sliders in the cast dialog to control individual members are the exception, not the normal way to handle volume …

Insulting does not help.

Again, thanks for your attempt. I will stop now.

And you see insults in my answers ? Again without even trying to understand what I write.

You have the solution written 4 times here. When you cool down just read and you’ll see you can easily control the coordinator as it’s intended to be done  As you can see there’s no volume slider for the local device or any chromecast or any Sonos device not inside a group.

And why ? Because you do not use the cast dialog to control volume, you use the volume control inside the app as it’s intended to be.

I’m back, Tolriq. I still don’t understand your approach to an honest community question and you keep saying I’m not reading you - I’m really trying to and, frankly, I’d really love to give you my money but be a little patient.

Please review what I’m asking you about.

I do use the app slider control to control the group volume. I get it. I really do.

I also know that, when I tap “Play to”, I can create or leave a Sonos group or pick something completely different to play to. Cool. Love it.

I also know that when I have that view open, the one in my picture, I’m able to adjust individual speakers in the group. There’s GROUP volume and there INDIVIDUAL volumes. I am talking about the latter. Your app DOES allow for individual speaker/room/device adjustment. Cool, I like it.

My question/comment is - I can adjust EACH speaker separately (if needed) except for the controller speaker. What that means is, a group of 5 items has a master volume and 4 individual adjustments but not an adjustment for the controller.

I’m not trying to harass anyone or be an ass, I just wanted to point it out because my CONTROLLER is also a speaker I’d like to adjust individually. Like I said, I like this app - let’s be cool.

Install version 15.0.1.

Is it released to the Play store or do I need to install it a different way? Play Store seems to think I’m on the latest release already. Please let me know and I will get the latest distribution.

I was able to find 15.0B10 in your repo. I did not find 15.1.

Please advise.

Thank you @evilnick.

And here we are. I am now able to control each speaker within the group, including group coordinator.

Thank you @Tolriq for taking time to read through my ticket and understand my feedback. Top screenshot verifies what I was asking about.

What is typically the timeline to see the beta APK releases bundled into a store release?
