"Skipping" and jittering in most tracks

App version

Production

Issue description

When I play certain (most) audio tracks the audio skips during playback. It sounds like it is scrubbing forward through the audio. Transcoding or playing direct have no effect. Flac, AAC, MP3, and OPUS have the same problem. When I play from the same Navidrome server with a different app I don’t have the same issues. Playing the files directly from my server also doesn’t have any issues.

Device type

Phone

Media provider

Navidrome

Steps to reproduce

Play track
Hear skipping

Additional information

It started about a week ago. I use the app pretty extensively. I cleared all synced audio files. I reinstalled the app, restoring my settings from a backup. I have disabled all DSP settings, including System Equalizer. Nothing makes a difference.

Logs include a full sync with my server then playing through various files that all exibit the issue to varying degrees. The worst is “Prologue” from Lord of the Rings for the first 30 seconds but continues with glitches throughout the track. I included transcoding to OPUS and the original FLAC in the logs. The Little Mermaid track “We Are The Daughters of Triton” has the same issue about half way through. That is MP3 encoded.

I am on my local WiFi with a direct connection to the server. I do use Tailscale for connectivity but I have noticed no difference when I am home, at work, or on cellular.

99% of the time it’s that you enabled the skip silence option in the 3 dots menu.

Well, don’t I feel sheepish.

That did it. I had been experimenting with Audiobookshelf integrations and forgot that setting was enabled.

Thanks for your rapid and informative response.

(The one setting I didn’t check!)
