Shuffle does not stay enabled (Retain Player State)

Issue description

With Retain Player State enabled, the app seems to revert back to standard play after a period of time. Sometimes it happens in the same day, sometimes it’s a couple days later, but I re-open the app and notice the toggle is off again. This wasn’t happening in older versions (pre- v14).

Steps to reproduce

1.I toggle shuffle on, play some tracks from different artists
2. Come back to the app several hours/days later and notice shuffle is toggled off.

Additional information

Doesn’t seem to be a clear trigger, I’ll play a handful of tracks from one artist, come back, play more from another, eventually when I open it again after a period of inactivity I notice it has reset.

Do you usually reboot the phone or plug unplug headphones with the app in background or anything like that ?

Rarely if ever reboot my phone, and I only use bluetooth buds. I go from my car playing through bluetooth sometimes and to the earbuds or vice versa, but it doesn’t seem to trigger right away, can’t seem to reproduce it.

Since I posted this I used the app for a couple days with no issues and today opened it again in the morning and shuffle was disabled. Not sure what triggers it

Any resolution to this? A trigger I’ve found is when 2 conditions are met:

  1. Playing through car speakers via bluetooth, and then followed by

  2. Going back to regular bluetooth earbuds… after some time has passed and I open the app which has been killed from memory

When those conditions are met it seems shuffle is toggled off again. It’s just strange because this never happened on version 13 or prior, it’s quite annoying.

Still trying to repro consistently but have lead on possible cause.

Any more info on this? Noticed it was marked as fixed, still been happening to me every day

This issue is still not fixed by the way as of the newest version 15.0.1. I tested today, played songs in my car over bluetooth, got to work and used my bluetooth earbuds, and then a few hours later when I opened Symfonium shuffle was toggled off again.

I’ve just uploaded the logs.

Started logging at 10:00 AM PST, listened to some music on my way to work with shuffle toggled on. Opened the app a few times between then and around 11:45 AM with no issues. At around 3:00 PM PST, I opened the app again to play a song and noticed shuffle was toggled off again.

Any news? Seems like someone else has reported this a problem as well

It’s fixed in 15.1 read tags and changelogs :wink:

Great news. Too bad about the long wait times with Play Store..
