Feature description:
Allow toggling the display of wave bar and playback controls separately instead of together as “mini player”.
Problem solved:
The wavebar and controls together take up so much vertical screen space that the cover (if selected to be displayed in portrait mode) is shrunk down considerably to allow enough space for the lyrics text. When only selecting the controls or the wavebar, this can be avoided, resulting in a cleaner look.
I personally don’t need/want the controls in the lyrics screen (they belong in the now playing screen imho) but I’d love to see the wavebar.
The only part of the playback controls I think belongs in the lyrics view is an option to play/pause, which you could add by allowing play/pause by tapping the cover (if it’s displayed) like in now playing.
That way cover, lyrics and wavebar could be displayed together cleanly (see mockup) and tapping the cover would play/pause, which is the view I’d consider optimal.
Brought benefits:
It would give users more granular control over what they want to see in the lyrics view.
Other application solutions:
None, the lyrics view in Symfonium is already leaps and bounds better than that of any other app I know.
Additional description and context:
Screenshot 1 shows the current view when displaying the cover + mini player, the cover being quite small.
Screenshot 2 shows the current view when displaying only the cover.
Mockup 3 shows what I would like to display. The cover in all it’s glory, the wavebar at the bottom and the lyrics snugly in-between. Being able to tap the cover to play/pause would be the cherry on top.
Separating wavebar and controls would also be an upgrade to the horizontal lyrics view (without cover) where having the mini player currently takes up 3/4 of the vertical space.
