Hi there, I’ve been having this issue for some time now (a couple of weeks), I’m on latest beta (11.2.0 Beta2). I hadn’t been able to identify a precise pattern, it seems random to me. Sometimes I select a song from the queue and it starts playing the next one in the queue. The Now Playing screen shows the selected song though.
It happened also on manual skip (“skip to next song” button). It never happened on natural sequence (that is when a song ends and the next is played).
Thinking it could have been a provider issue (self-hosted Navidrome with nginx in front of it), I also configured a complete offline cache for the entire collection, but the issue still occurs.
I saw other similar (possibly exact) issues in the forum, but they all were closed as fixed, so I thought opening another topic would be best.
Logs:
Upload description: The interesting part is between 12:20 and 12:22. The selected song was “Point of view” by “DB Boulevard” but “Training Season” by “Dua Lipa” played instead (the next one in the queue). It also happened in the afternoon but I couldn’t take note of the exact time for that one, sorry - I know it was some time after 20:00 though.
EDIT: no sorry, the log goes until 12:34, so no afternoon logs available.
Additional information:
Server is self-hosted Navidrome in Docker (latest version) with nginx in front of it. Full offline cache in Symfonium is active so no actual HTTP requests for song files (I guess).
Reproduction steps:
None that I could provide because issue seems to happen randomly.
Sorry for the long log description, I only understood later that I had to put my username in there I copy-pasted it so the string should actually match.
Ok so I can see it in the logs, but no idea how it’s possible.
Are you sure it did not occurred before 11.2 ?
I’d really need more data for a repro.
Does it only occurs when your queue is very old and likely the app was killed then the queue restored?
Does it only occurs in the now playing screen/queue? Never when clicking an item in a list?
Does it only occurs for some kind of playback like smart playlists, or imported playlists from the server?
Anything you can think of that you probably always do when it happens.
90% sure. The other 10% is because I could have not noticed it before or it wasn’t happening enough times for me to notice. Since 2-3 weeks it is happening frequently enough to make me report it eheh
I do have some old queues (8-10 days old) and I still restore them, yes. But I didn’t take note of the age of the queue when it happened. I’ll be sure to notice that and note it.
It happens when tapping next in the now playing screen, tapping on an item in the queue and when generating a new queue (e.g. selecting an item from a playlist).
I have only imported playlists from Navidrome in my library. And no local media.
As the issue is somewhat random, I started taking exact notes only recently, so I’ll need to get back to you on this one.
I didn’t think it was relevant before but it is now: it happens a lot while in my car (Android Auto) and less frequently when I’m not connected to my car. I’m telling this now because I’ve been trying to reproduce it outside of my car for a few minutes now and I can’t.
I’ll do some more tests and report back. I’ll be sure to take proper notes. Thanks for your patience.
Time: 12:45
Song selected (and displayed): “Let it go” by Idina Menzel
Song played: “Into the uknown” by Idina Menzel (next one in the queue)
The queue is a few days old. I can see from the logs (if I interpret them correctly) that it was restoring it from somewhere despite I was playing it some minutes ago. So the sequence was this:
I resumed an old queue from a few days ago
I tried to reproduce but didn’t succeed
I paused music and put my phone on standby
I resumed my phone and tried again a few minutes later
the queue was still there, just paused, so I selected a random song
I’ve been using the app for a few days since your tentative fix, it seems to have worked. The issue didn’t occur and I couldn’t reproduce it again despite my numerous attempts.
