Right / Left Adjusted Queue

Feature description:

An option which allows for right or left adjusted queue options / controls.

Problem solved:

Currently the drag point to re-order tracks within the list & the menu/ “more actions” button are on opposite sides of the display.

Options for Right, Left & Centered (as is) queue settings could make interacting with the queue easier & in the case of larger devices tapping to re-order or see more actions can both be a one handed task.

Brought benefits:

Although there is the benefit of less accidental re-ordering / accidental action button pushes as the two are not next to one another some displays are larger. Pushing the UI interactions to opposing sides in some cases forces the user to do a bit of phone gymnastics or use a second hand to reach parts of the UI.

This is especially true for the DJ driver…I know…you shouldn’t…but let’s be honest, there will always be a DJ Driver

You can swipe left / right on the items to remove / queue next the 3 dots are rarely needed with reorder.

And 3 dots and drag should never be near each other.

Curious as to why you feel the 3 dots & drag should be divorced in this way? I feel they should be together.

Then we could reorder & hit the 3 dots with one hand rather than readjusting to reach our thumb across or having to use another hand.

I say mom & dad should be together…for the kids

It’s more like the fox and the rabbit or the rabbit and the cabbage

They have completely different purpose and actions, completely different way of interacting with them and both are small icons with touch zones way larger than the icons leading to missclicks.

See that makes complete sense. Kinda what i figured…but i also dislike the phone shimmy I’m doing constantly. I cant think of any other good remedies to this.

Well maybe explain your need

Id just like a way to re order tracks without the phone gymnastics. In order to do so either

A) the drag handle needs to move next to the 3 dots

B) The 3 dots includes a long press option which allows for reordering by dragging

C) something clever i havent thought of

How do you reorder, you can’t reorder with one hand also carrying the phone.

If you want to put track just after the current you can swipe right for that for example.

In the play next example I use the swipe, (really comes in handy) but sometimes im moving a track from the top of the queue to be the new “song after next”. With one hand i cant reach the top corner of the opposing side of my display without a little hand adjustment followed by an awkward dragging gown as im repositioning my grip on the way down.

In these cases it would be nice if everything was to one side as i originally presented as its less of a reach to move my thumb up & down along the side of say the right side of the phone rather than using my right thumb to drag down from the top left of the phone.

I have a plus model phone for some context & this is something I hadnt noticed at first as the first time I was using the app i was on a standard galaxy s9 which is significantly smaller

What most do it quick swipe the songs then press the pin button to scroll to current and just reorder the few next. Way faster, less movements all benefits.
