Resume doesn't work on Now Playing screen, only on Album screen

Issue description:

When I pause the audiobook and come back to it a few hours later and hit play on the Now Playing screen, it always restarts the chapter from 0:00
I have to exit out of the screen to the Book (Album) and click the Resume button there.

Reproduction steps:

 
Start an audiobook chapter.
Pause mid-way.
Swipe out (Go home gesture)
Open the app after a few hours.
The app opens to the Now Playing screen.
Hit Play. The chapter starts from the beginning.

Exit the Now Playing screen to the Album screen.
Click the Resume button.
The chapter resumes properly where it was paused a few hours ago.

The log covers a long period but it seems the issue arise probably when connecting the device in your car ?

I can see a proper restore then a seek before playing then a stop converted to a pause then app killed again without playing anything.

This would have happened the 6th at 15:31 does it ring a bell ?

Hm.

Actually, when played in the car via Android Auto, it resumes fine, if my memory serves me right.

The most issues happen when I cast to a “Bedroom Speaker” device.

Would you like me to try and generate another debug log?

New logs with exact time it first happens would help, but I’ve added more logs for next release to better see.

Sounds like a plan. I will wait for the next version and then will try to generate another log and note down the times.

Hi, now that I’ve got the updated version and the issue occurred again, how can I attach the debug log? Do I just add my nickname to it as usual and you can retrieve it by date?

Happened once in AndroidAuto mode and once while casting to a speaker

So it shows the issue but unfortunately not the full cause of the race :frowning:
Next release will have an attempted workaround + even more logs.

Thanks, I will wait for the new version and try it out there. Will provide more logs if it occurs again.

Wanted to report that I’ve also experienced this a few times (playing normal length music). I haven’t got logs yet as it’s unpredictable. This time was listening regularly via a Bluetooth speaker (not using cast or anything similar). I probably paused the music for about 20-30 mins.

I’ll try and get logs in the future.

Hi tolriq, I’ve uploaded some logs where this problem occurred. Sorry that they’re so long, it happened at the end, with the song Aleksi Perälä - FI3AC2160010.

The logs show me playing the song, pausing it and leaving the phone for maybe 8 hours or so (but not using it much), unpausing the player and it having reset to 0:00. I then resume the track from the menus and it continues from where I initially paused it. This was not with Bluetooth. This seems to be happening quite consistently now.
