Question about Artist and Album Artist tags

Hello,

I noticed that if in the original tag of a track I leave the Artist filed empty, Synfonium writes in any case [Unknown Artist] as you can see here:

Is there some setting that let to avoid this and put merely an empty filed?

Also I found out that this string exists everywhere in the album page:

But on the other hand, if I switch in the original tag Artist and Album Artist I have another behaviour.

Let’s take as example the track number 3 in the screenshot above. I have in the original tag Album Artist = Murubutu and Artist = Erica Mou … ok?

If I switch the two tags and use Album Artist = Erica Mou and Artist = Murubutu, that track disappear from the list of the album and Symfonium makes another page album containing that track only, as if the main artist was Erica Mou and not Murubutu.

It seems like it’s making a group by based on Album Artist and not by Artist. Here does exist a setting to decide which tag to use in order to have the track under the same album page?

Always in this album page, if you notice an annoying string “Da” appears before the name of the producer under the track title, why this? Could it be deleted?

I hope I explained myself well, thanks in advance for your support.

This is the part where “Symfonium shows what Navidrome sends.” I only use Local Device as my media provider, which behaves differently. (It will copy the Album Artist name into Artist field if Artist is empty, and vice versa.)

There’s no setting to just leave it empty.

Yes the Album Artist is indeed considered the main artist. That’s the point of this field. You might be able to change this behavior via the “Split albums by” option in the Media Provider settings. (Uncheck Album Artist.)

It’s there to distinguish Composers from Artists in the list. There’s no way to turn it off unless you hide the Composer name completely.
