Feature description:
Being able to select a specific folder as the start directory for the ‘Files’ view (with the option to move back up with the back key for example).
For example if my local device music dir looks like this:
/emulated/0/Music/Wave/Hardwave
I would like to set ‘Music’ as the start page.
i.e. Tapping ‘Files’ should automatically get me into the music dir listing all the sub directories, omitting the choice of music provider and tapping the root directory.
Problem solved:
Not having to tap 4 times to reach the music directory.
Brought benefits:
If ones music collection is in the default android music folder we need to tapping around 3-4 times to enter the root music directory.
- on the library tab
- on the files tab
- on the ‘local provider’ tab
- on the actual music root dir
While it’s possible or even likely that one uses multiple providers, I think most of us use one or at least one for the files section.
In any way, just having the option to set a specific dir.
Other application solutions:
Retro music player for example has this option and it works just as described.
It shows the selected directory when tapping Folders, while keeping the ability to higher in the hierarchy if desired by tapping the path on top

ChatGPT created mockup attached below.
I recently decided to revert from subsonic steaming to local files for various reasons and I’m happy to be able to keep Symfonium as my player.
You have done a great job with this app Tolriq, I greatly appreciate your work!
