Pure adaptive color background style option for the expanded player (no gradient, no fade to black)

Feature description

Add a “Pure adaptive color” (or “Solid adaptive color without black fallback”) background style option for the expanded player — a solid color taken from the album art that fills the entire background without fading to black.

Problem solved

The two existing adaptive color options have limitations:
Solid adaptive color → supposed to fill the background with a solid color, but frequently falls back to black, making it unreliable.
Gradient adaptive color → always shows a color, but fades to black toward the bottom, so the entire background never has a consistent color.
There is no option that guarantees a full, solid, non-black adaptive color across the entire background.

Brought benefits

A full adaptive color background would be visually striking and modern — similar to how some music apps display a vibrant colored background that matches the album art. If buttons or the progress bar blend into the background, the existing “Background overlay” option can already be used to fix that.

Other application solutions

Apple Music and other modern players display a full vibrant background color extracted from the album art, without fading to black.

Additional description and context

The existing “Background overlay” option already provides a solution for contrast issues that may arise when the background color is too similar to the UI elements — so a pure adaptive color option would not require additional contrast handling to be built in.

Very interesting suggestion.

Would you be able to share a few cover artworks that do this?

I have only one art that I know has this issue. I could dig through my library to look for more but if you have some handy that I could play around with, it would be appreciated!

Many songs make the background turn black, many…

One question: Is this an app bug that’s only happening to me? I ask because you said it only happens to you with one song.

No it’s not just you. It’s due to how the app picks colors, I guess. You’ll notice most of the artworks you posted have a lot of white in them. (There’s three that don’t actually fit the bug–the ones where the background is kinda off-grey? The app has actually picked a color for those. Dark mode just has very muted backgrounds.)

It’s the same with the track I had. Mainly white, with a fairly even mix of other colors on top. I’m sure I have more tracks that do the same as well, but I was a little lazy to look for them. I switched to Animated Glow a long time ago, which doesn’t have this problem.

That said, I’m pretty sure Tolriq knows and will look into it. I asked for some sample pics to help with any testing that may happen.
