Issue description:
Plex server will add and work for a while, then show as offline in Symfonium while I am still able to connect to the server through Plex and Plexamp on PC. It does eventually come back but then will go offline again and I’m not sure why. Only change I’ve made that mau have caused this is having Plex Relay disabled so I could have FLAC audio download as FLAC instead of OGG.

Additional information:
I had put more info in the upload description not realizing it might make it harder to find. Let me know if I need to reupload.
Reproduction steps:
Not 100% sure if this is it, but:
Media provider:
Plex
Screenshots:
Do not upload 500MB logs files
Try to have a simple reproduction.
Only thing I see is :
2025-05-22 20:25:53.904 Error PlexTvUtils Unable to get server list: 401 / {"errors":[{"code":1001,"message":"User could not be authenticated","status":401}]}
Plex refuse the account when asking for the new IPs. How did you add the server? What kind of account ? …
The log file I had before was 8gb for some reason. So I deleted it and started a fresh one, then uploaded it as soon as the issue happened again. That’s as “simple” as I could make it.
Account was added by logging in with Plex account email.
So the IP changed on the server? If that’s what’s happening it happened a few times within maybe 4 hours, since turning off Plex Relay to work around the “FLAC becoming OGG” issue.
Oh, and it’s logging in as a user under the main server account.
The logs have a couple of syncs and many file downloads.
Your server stops answering, the reason could be many things, and why Symfonium ask Plex for a new IP Plex refuses connection.
Did you use the Web auth ?
At first I thought Plex going offline was related to downloading. If it was happening from idling, my bad. But I would have had to have my phone open on a fresh log staring at server status until it went offline. I get 500mb log may not be ideal for you but this method wouldn’t have been ideal for me either, also since I thought it was happening while interacting with the server.
I am not sure what you mean by web auth. When I added the server through Symfonium I tapped Plex, then put in the main user email and password. Then at some point tapped my username. I don’t remember if this was in a seperate browser window or not.
That’s the important part
You probably did not use the web auth then explaining the possible issue here.
You might want to add again the Plex server but using web auth. (Do not remove the current one before adding the new one and let it sync, to not loose offline cached media).
Thanks, added through web auth and syncing now. Once it’s done syncing, it is safe to delete the old entry?
It’ll be a bit harder to tell if the server goes offline now. I do have some downloading I can do and if those fail that’s an easy way to tell, but that bloats the log file. Am I correct that there’s no way to get a phone notification when a server is detected as offline? Hopefully it’s fine now though.
EDIT: Okay, webauth server went down too. I deleted the log file and had it make a new one while still offline to make it smaller. It happened while downloading so didn’t want to get you another bloated file. Hopefully all the info you need is there. The log is named james5272off
EDIT2: Just to give you more info, this time whole Plex server went offline - can’t connect through PlexAmp or Plex on PC either. So unless you have an idea of what it is, I think it’s from turning Plex Relay off since everything was stable until that happened last night.
EDIT3: Server manager is trying manually defining a port since it looks like it might need that with Relay off. Will keep you posted…
Hoping you don’t mind the bump, just want to make sure you see it.
I’ve streamed music for about 2.5 hours with no caching enabled, and not had any hiccups. Also done a lot of downloading and never saw them fail from server going offline. So seems the fix for disabling Plex Relay is also to give Plex a manual port.
Aside from getting original files instead of OGG converions, disabling Plex Relay has dramatically increased my download speed (5Mb/s with it on, 50Mb/s total with it off) and I can also do 4 simultaneous downloads now. With Relay on, last I tried more than 1 it would just skip whatever downloads got queued.
So, as long as it stays stable, overall a huge upgrade going through the growing pains.
I am also back to a setup where the media provider was added nonwebauth method. I noticed webauth didn’t have my track ratings, it looks like maybe cuz it doesn’t associate a user with sign in. And I’ve rated probably at least 1000 tracks over the years so don’t want to start over. I didn’t have issues with the nonwebauth method before, so if it stays stable (and webauth had gone offline too anyway) I should hopefully be fine for a good while.
