Issue started after 12.3 update.
Plex server or WiiM renderer have not been updated.
Issue: when casting to UPNP renderer, playlist shuffle has issues.
First song will start, second song will sometimes be duplicate, sometimes second song displays wrong info on screen, and sometimes skipping to next track will stop playback entirely. I didn’t catch it all in the logs, but I have some information below:
In logfile “EricthePeric”:
Step 1: Go to playlist
Step 2: Select UPNP Renderer from cast menu
Step 3: Press playlist Shuffle button
Result:
Track A plays normally.
Track B has wrong artwork and info on screen.
Skipping to next track plays track B again, with correct info on screen.
Not in logfile:
Sometimes after skipping to next track will display the song, but playback will stop entirely.
Rebooted, seemed to solve the problem, only to happen again later during the day, including the songs stopping/not playing after selecting something else. I’ll try to recreate it and upload new logs including the stopping issue.
Also noticed that ReplayGain wasn’t working on my earbuds anymore. Used it before with the same playlist (all songs have ID3 tags with ReplayGain info), so something has changed. Is this something that is visible in logs as well? Then I’ll create a separate support ticket.
Both problems only occured after 12.3 update though.
Disabled gapless in the renderer options, then managed to replicate the stopping issue.
Logfile: EricthePeric2
Step 1: Go to playlist
Step 2: Select renderer from casting menu
Step 3: Press shuffle
Step 4: Skip to next track
Step 5: Skip to next track
After step 5, third song is displayed, but doesn’t start. It also displays the end time of the song as if it has played it entirely, instead of 00:00 (which it normally does at the start of a song).
Your server returns some error 404 and 500. You probably need to force a sync in Symfonium if you moved files, and check Plex logs about why it returns errors.
I manually synced in Symfonium, but didn’t solve the problem. I didn’t move any files, but I did add new ID3 tags in the files. I will try to look at Plex logs soon.
I’m going to wait until I have all my files updated and then refresh my entire Plex library to see if that’s the problem. You can close this issue for now, I’ll open a new one if the problem doesn’t go away.
