App version
Beta
Issue description
When I play something, whether it is music or an audiobook, the now playing screen in the app does not appear, but audio does play. At the same time there is no media notification/player in my phone’s quick settings. Then approx. 6.5 seconds after I leave the app the audio stops. Also the app doesn’t appear in the “active apps” menu in quick settings like it usually does. It did the same thing with all the media providers I use: Jellyfin, OneDrive, Local, and Audiobookshelf.
This happened after I updated to Android 17 QPR1 Beta 3. I checked and the app still has unrestricted battery usage. I also looked at its permissions and the “music and audio” and “notification” permissions were denied, but allowing them didn’t seem to make a difference. The “nearby devices” permission was partially allowed, but even giving full allowance didn’t make a difference that I could tell.
I’m not sure who’s problem this is exactly, but there are other audio apps that seem to work right.

Steps to reproduce
- Update device to Android 17 QPR1 Beta 3.
- Play media in the Symfonium app. (Works with all media providers that I use)
- Leave the app. (To make the music stop.)
- Re-enter the app. (The music should start again.)
Additional information
I did a screen recording and discovered that I couldn’t upload it with the screenshots, but I did discover that in the screen recording the audio plays longer after I leave the app than it does just using the phone. So I would be recording and I would leave the app and wait until the audio stopped and then after a little bit I would stop screen recording but when I played them back the audio would continue to the end of the recordings, going longer than it had in real life.
