Playback Issues

App version

Beta

Issue description

When I play something, whether it is music or an audiobook, the now playing screen in the app does not appear, but audio does play. At the same time there is no media notification/player in my phone’s quick settings. Then approx. 6.5 seconds after I leave the app the audio stops. Also the app doesn’t appear in the “active apps” menu in quick settings like it usually does. It did the same thing with all the media providers I use: Jellyfin, OneDrive, Local, and Audiobookshelf.

This happened after I updated to Android 17 QPR1 Beta 3. I checked and the app still has unrestricted battery usage. I also looked at its permissions and the “music and audio” and “notification” permissions were denied, but allowing them didn’t seem to make a difference. The “nearby devices” permission was partially allowed, but even giving full allowance didn’t make a difference that I could tell.

I’m not sure who’s problem this is exactly, but there are other audio apps that seem to work right.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Update device to Android 17 QPR1 Beta 3.
  2. Play media in the Symfonium app. (Works with all media providers that I use)
  3. Leave the app. (To make the music stop.)
  4. Re-enter the app. (The music should start again.)

Additional information

I did a screen recording and discovered that I couldn’t upload it with the screenshots, but I did discover that in the screen recording the audio plays longer after I leave the app than it does just using the phone. So I would be recording and I would leave the app and wait until the audio stopped and then after a little bit I would stop screen recording but when I played them back the audio would continue to the end of the recordings, going longer than it had in real life.

There is no logs uploaded …

I thought I uploaded it. I tried again.

Ok so beta 1. See the changelog part to download the Beta 2 since Google still have not validated that.

I went to the changelog and followed the link there but it didn’t work to install that apk. I am currently running Symfonium V15.0.0B1.

I’ll need more details than did not work  Else you’ll have to wait for Google to validate the beta 2. Too many changes in it to match your logs.

I downloaded the apk using the “Latest APK” button. As far as I can tell it is version 14.1.2. When I try to install it a dialogue pops up that says “Installing the app” then one pops up that says “Update this app?” and after I press update it fails and something pops up that says “You can’t install the app on your device”. (My files app is allowed to install apps.)

You need to use the beta repo at the end

Okay, thanks. I missed the Beta repo. Symfonium had actually started working right again, but then it stopped. After installing the update it works.
