Feature description:

Would cache the next media when automatically being played

Problem solved:

Would solve the unability to listen to the media when offline, after listening to it

Brought benefits:

Less clicks, cache only what you’ve listened

Additional description and context:

 
i host and SMB share, i listen to music both home and outside, id like to keep cached the songs i listened.

Playback cache + rolling cache :slight_smile:

I have both playback cache enabled + rolling cache, both using 32.0 gb
It will only cache the medias i click / forward. For instance, when one music ends, it will start playing the next one but without caching it :frowning:

Then check again your settings, since you don’t give them it’s hard to help.

You can enable pre cache and auto copy from playback cache to rolling cache.

my General settings are as followed:

  • Rolling cache size : 32.2gb
  • Automatic offline mode : enabled
  • only consider primary connection for Wi-Fi status : enabled

my Media settings are as followed:

  • Offline cache and download quality: original
  • Automatic offline caching of favorites: to permanent cache
  • Max simultaneous downloads: 4

my playback settings are as followed:

  • Pre-cache tracks (mobile + wifi) : 30
  • Force first song pre-cache : enabled
  • Add playback cached media to offline rolling cache : enabled

On the SMB settings, automatic media offline cache is disabled because it just wants to download everything, i only want to download what i listened to.

Then open a proper issue with logs showing that the next precached songs are not added to rolling cache.
