Play count sync issue with Plex

Issue description:

When I listen to a full album (streaming either on Wifi or cellular) it seems some of the songs are not marked as played in Plex (even when they are marked as played in Symfonium). Things I have tried so far:

  • Turned battery optimization off
  • Disabled waveform extraction
  • Reduced played threshold to 50% and then increased it to 90% - this doesn’t seem to matter

Reproduction steps:

I suspect that pausing the song (even for just a few seconds) does this but still unsure if that’s the case.

Check the plex logs to see why it ignores the updates.

@dex.iliev I really need the messages from Plex or a detailed repro …

The Plex internals on scrobble ignore are fully undocumented.

Thank you. I’ve uploaded a new Symfonium log file (dex.iliev 01.08) and Plex server logs (since the file from yesterday was really big and it would probably be harder to find the errors)

Well they don’t log anything special …

Most of the time there’s the proper

Jan 08, 2026 08:32:29.120 [26464] DEBUG - [Req#23b] MyPlex: Sending scrobble for account 1 for item 59968.

And sometimes only the scrobble not the play count, makes no sense to scrobble but not increase playcount …

Jan 08, 2026 09:14:49.246 [16028] DEBUG - [Req#b7d] MyPlex: Sending scrobble for account 1 for item 62472.

Do you have a specific 100% repro ?

I don’t think so. I can play the same album twice and it’ll be different songs that won’t count so I know it’s not the files themselves. It just seems random.

The magic of Plex :frowning: WTF don’t they support the scrobble endpoint for music is a mystery …

I’ve added some random attempts in next release.
