Multiple artist parsing for Plex

Feature description

Add option in provider settings (for plex and any other provider that doesn’t natively support multi-artist tagging) to use a specified delimiter with which to separate out an artist tag into multiple artists.

Problem solved

Hi, I use Plex as my host and am generally really happy with it (stupid easy to use, more or less bulletproof reliability). My one gripe with it is that for whatever reason, their developers insist on only allowing a single artist per song. My idea, if possible, would be to simply let us designate a delimiter on the provider setup screen for Plex (and any other provider with this limitation). Symfonium would then use that to separate multiple artists and the music would show up under both artists. For example, using a comma as the delimiter, a track with the artists “Jay-Z, Kanye West” would show up on the artist pages for both Jay-Z and Kanye West.

Brought benefits

This would, for example, allow collaboration songs from a pair of artists to correctly show up on the artist pages for those associated artists, instead of creating a third artist for just that collaboration.

Additional description and context

This might be outside of the scope of Symfonium, given it messes with metadata to some degree, but it would be a huge benefit to a lot of us who are using platforms that don’t on their own support multiple artist tagging.

Not possible and out of scope use a better server ?

Totally fair answer! Kinda figured that might be the case. I’m sticking with Plex for now because other than this one annoyance, it works really well for me and is very user friendly, for me at least (and because I paid for a lifetime pass, so sunk cost fallacy, probably :joy:). Just wish their developers added features/improved the product even half as much as you do…
