MS One Drive streaming halts close to the end of each song

Issue description:

Listening to my music collection stored on OneDrive (a mix of FLAC and MP3, but the issue doesn’t seem to depend on file format). Songs stop a few seconds to about a minute before the end.

I suspect some kind of buffering issue from One Drive… Funnily enough, I discovered Symfonium (which I love) coming from a similar app which had a similar problem (music from OneDrive would end prematurely… Their app would just skip to the next song instead of halting, though).

I submitted a log report a few minutes ago about this.

I don’t see any playback error in those logs are you sure it’s in it ?
Can you better describe what happens and if it happens alaways to the same file upload them to https://upload.symfonium.app

I finally got time to play with this a bit longer. Played a full FLAC album streaming from OneDrive and captured logs. On seven occasions, playback stopped a few seconds to a couple of minutes before the end. Rather than halting completely, Symfonium kept “playing silently” for the remaining time, and moved on to the next song in the queue.

I’m about to send a new debug log report. Note the uncatched socket timeout error on line 939, and six more audioTrackUnderrun errors. Actually, the very last song I was playing (“Bartender”) also stopped at around the 6:56 timestamp, but I don’t see error messages for it.

Thanks for taking a look!

Hello. Did you manage to take a look at the new logs?

There was no new log uploaded

That’s odd. I attempted a new upload just now. See screenshot.

Let me know if it worked this time.

You do not put a description as required and the log is empty and does not reproduce the issue …

I tried to upload again directly from the app, now. It’s a 1.7 MB file (uncompressed). I added as a comment “ZioAle OneDrive streaming issues”.

I also checked the contents and they should be correct.

Did it finally work?

What are your settings for the playback cache ? Are you sure files did not have upload issue and are corrupted? Try to offline cache them and see if they play correctly.

What are your settings for the playback cache ?

I never changed them from the defaults.

Do you reckon adding a few GBs of playback cache would help?

Are you sure files did not have upload issue and are corrupted?

Yes, I’m sure the files are not corrupted. I’ve also listened to a few of them from OneDrive’s web client and they always played till the end.

Try to offline cache them and see if they play correctly.

I just did this and I can confirm that the songs play correctly.

It looks like a problem with the streaming… However, the “fingerprint” for the waveform progress bar doesn’t look cropped or anything. Does it get computed without the whole song in cache?

Playback cache is off by default.

And yes the wave forms runs on a different access.

Does it only occurs on never played tracks ? The logs don’t explain silence it should pause to buffer on network issue.

Try to upload the FLAC album from the logs to see if I can repro.

It happens semi-regularly with many different songs, even those I played already.

It used to be that playback stopped suddenly and I had to skip tracks manually. More recently (can’t tell after which update), it started behaving as described (silence, but the player keeps progressing and moves to the next track at the right time).

I’m uploading the specific album as a 7zip file, but keep in mind that it happens with many different albums, not only this one.
