More customizable Genres

Feature description:

Usually how I personally do it is that i split the genres into 3 Sections.

Lets say a song is:

Pop Rap (Main Genre) | Cloud Rap (Secondary Genre) | Hip Hop (Overarching Genre)

This means u can search for those genres by the way u want to. And if u dont feel like specifying too much right now and u just feel like listening to Rock you can just Click on Rock.
I would love if this Feature could be Implemented, or at least a way to create a Genre Hierarchy.

Problem solved:

No problem existing.

Brought benefits:

Gives more filtering and more sorting possibilities.

Other application solutions:

No other solutions. What I did for myself in Musicolet is:

Pop Rap/Alternative R&B | (Cloud Rap) | Hip Hop/R&B

But sadly this System also doesnt work with Symfonium.

You could use STYLE tags. My cloud rap tag is in style. I use filter chips to nab songs like that if I’m looking for a more niche style of rap. I do the same for Conscious Rap & location based rap (Atlanta Rap / New York Rap / West Coast Rap)

If you wanted to keep those values in genres though the app can view each genre separately & you can filter songs via any of the values you add to genre.

Here’s the Across The Spider-verse verse album view with my tagged genres & styles

My genres include “Folders” whic is another way I sort of group my tracks

I absolutely do not understand the need. You can configure the split values for the genres.

What exactly do u mean? Can u do a hierarchy or sumn?

Just underneath “Sort Title” there are a few “filter chips” These are sort of like rule based filters you can save to bring up specific groups of tracks at will.

Ex:
Rule1 Genre Contains “Cloud Rap”
Rule2 Artist Contains “Metro Boomin”

This filter chip would filter your list of tracks to only those whose genre contains “Cloud Rap” & Artist Contains “Metro Boomin”

In my screenshot I’m filtering to see tracks that are from A COLORS SHOW (it’s a YouTube Chanel that has artists record songs live)

If you wanted to keep your current genre fields as is this is how you could go about navigating through them although Delimited genres means you’d also be able to quickly navigate to those tracks by browsing through the genres view of the app.

Assuming you are using “|” as your delimiter “(Cloud Rap)” will be its own genre in your library
If “/” is also a genre delimiter for you then this track would be listed under each of the following Distinct Genres:

Pop Rap
Alternative R&B
(Cloud Rap)
Hip Hop
R&B
