I tag all of my music 1-10 in a ratings field on MP3Tag, and have the “Tag ratings as user ratings” checked on my media provider. However, when my music is synced with Synfonium, the stars only show up for songs marked as “4” or “2”. Any “10” tags show as half a star. All other numbers don’t show (I only use even numbers, no half stars). Any advice on how to get this to work properly, please?
I’m using a FiiO M21 but that’s not listed in the device options.

I guess using a 1-10 rating system for your metadata and syncing your music?

The dev has to look through a ton of posts every day so not following the format makes their job very difficult. Please don’t ignore obvious “This step is mandatory” warnings as it wastes time for the people trying to help you.
The ratings tag should be a 0-100 scale. Every 10 points is equal to one half-star, as you saw. I don’t think this app makes use of any odd values (e.g. 12 and 14 would both just be one half-star).

I don’t understand this as putting “2” in my metadata gave me 1 star in Symfonium, and “4” resulted in 2 stars. I’ve changed everything to 1-100, which has mostly worked, but 100 in metadata comes out as half a star on the app. So I’m not sure how to translate 5 stars to metadata.
Settings > Manage Media Providers > (edit your provider) > Clear tag cache > (Confirm changes) > (rescan your library)
The app is probably still holding on to the “10” rating from before you changed them to “100”, which is why those are showing as one half-star. Clearing the tag cache should fix that.
Maybe the app tries to support 0-9 ratings a bit, I don’t know. But “10” will always be one half-star due to the 0-100 being the main scale, so using anything else is pointless. AFAIK other common players also use 0-100. It is not something this app came up with.
