Make smart playlist and periodically push its contents to Plex

Feature description:

Maybe this is already possible and I just can’t figure out how to do it: I’d like to make a smart playlist in Symfonium that uses “path” or “codec/file type” as a filter (this is not possible in Plex and they refuse to add it) and then push the results as a playlist on the Plex server. Of course it would useful to automatically update the playlist on PMS when the results change (1-way, from Symfonium → Plex), perhaps when Symfonium syncs with PMS.

Problem solved:

Make up for lack of useful filters in Plex

Brought benefits:

Ability to use these playlists on other devices that support Plex but where Symfonium does not exist. Plex users will love you

This is not really possible, smartplaylists are by nature unstable and so possibly always change. Like sorted by random.

You can’t sync that automatically.

Maybe it doesn’t work well in general, but it may work just fine for a subset of use cases. I’m looking to make playlists for some folders and those are generally pretty stable, unless I add/remove content. Any way to solve for this use case?

Symfonium only have features that works all the time, not sometimes else it’s a ton of support for nothing.

Your best bet is to write a small script that use the PlexAPI in python to achieve that.
