(Long) press options on Now playing

Feature description:

For custom strings on the Now playing screen, it would be nice to have different options based on a short or long press of these strings, similarly to how the Additional information works. I haven’t used it in a while, but I remember that tapping it would change the information displayed e.g. composer → EQ → bitrate…

In addition, it would be nice to have different options for tapping strings separated by the \t feature, as I noticed they have different ‘hitboxes’ (not sure if that’s the right name). Maybe one could open the queue, and another could open the album the next song in a queue belongs to?

Problem solved:

On my Now playing screen, I display either the album or the artists associated with the playing song, but I can’t quickly access both. I need to press the options button (3 dots) to access the artists. It’s not necessary to implement and there might be a better way, but I thought it could add more options. Same with strings separated by \t.

Brought benefits:

More customisation for the Now playing screen.

Other application solutions:

Slightly different, but Oto Music supports editing lyrics based on a long press of the lyrics button, vs. a short press with simply opens the lyrics screen. Symfonium also supports a similar action with the Additional information string, which I went over above.

Additional description and context:

I’m not sure what else to add.

Screenshots / Mockup:

If this is confusing I’ll add screenshots and videos, otherwise I’ll leave this empty.

So a custom sting with the option to cycle through other custom strings?

You can’t see me but know that I am villanously rubbing my hands together.

I think this could work but you’d probably need to forgo the click action unless cycling is only done with a long press.

I think this could be fun

That’s another option, yeah. It saves more space on the screen
