Symfonium enables users to easily access, organize, play, and cast music stored on their local Android devices.
To achieve this, the software offers multiple distinct modes. However, it’s worth noting that these modes are not compatible with each other, and switching between them requires removing and reconfiguring the provider. Therefore, we strongly recommend that users carefully evaluate and select their preferred mode early on, before adding any favorites that cannot be migrated between modes.
Add provider
To reduce the complexity of the different ways to access and manage your music, you just need to follow the wizard and select what best match your needs at each steps.
Media access
By folders / SDCard
In this mode, Symfonium utilizes the Android Storage Framework to scan music files in user-specified folders. Please note that, due to Android’s limitations, users cannot select the root of an SD card or the Downloads folder. This mode is the preferred option as it supports full tag parsing and allows for file types not natively supported by Android, such as DSF, MPC, APE, and WV.
This mode also support external CUE files to split large audio files, and external lyrics.
In this mode automatic sync is not available and you need to manually press the sync button when you add or modify your songs. (Sync media provider data)
Press Add folder and add as many folders containing music as you need.
Then press Use this folder, then next.
Note: Depending on your device brand or OS version you may need to press the 3 dots menu or the hamburger menu to access your SDCard. Symfonium have no control over that selection screen and is forced to use it.
By Android
In this mode Android finds your media files and gives the list to Symfonium, while this is faster, this is limited to media files natively supported by Android.
Press Gant permission to give Symfonium access to the Android music database.
You can then select how your music data is analyzed.
Symfonium parser.
Use Symfonium advanced TAG parser to get all the metadata from your files (In the limit of the files provided by Android)

Use the very limited metadata that Android provides for your files.
Artist metadata scrapping
Select if you want Symfonium to try to find artist images and biography on Internet or not.
After the selection of this option your provider is added.
Note: Please note that Symfonium’s tag parser caches tags to expedite future syncs. If you update your song tags and the app does not detect them, you can force a new sync by clearing the tag cache in the provider settings.
All settings
Scrape additional artists metadata
Try to download artists images and biography from online sources.
Prefer song thumbnail
Will use each songs thumbnail in list instead of the album ones. Useful for compilations if each songs have a different image. Will require more storage cache and slower syncs.
Tag ratings as user ratings
Ratings imported from media tags are normally considered as scraped ratings, enable this option to consider them user ratings.
Split album by:
You can select how Symfonium split the albums. Each selected option must be equals for songs to be part of the same album.
Search external thumbnail
Try to find external covers like folder.jpg for albums, this slow down a little the sync process.
Search external lyrics
Try to find external lyrics (.lrc) during sync. The lyrics must be in the same folder as the song with only the file extension changed to .lrc.
Filter short tracks
You can select the minimum duration for a song to help filtering unwanted media.

You can exclude sub folders from the sync to remove unwanted data.
