LMS metadata issues

Issue description:

Hey, I was using emby for my database, but it had shortcomings in its metadata options (namely disc subtitles and ordering albums by original release date) , so I switched to LMS. But now this is having its own problems. All artists on a track are no longer listed with the song (photo comparison included) , and there are no artist images. How do I fix these issues?

Logs:

Additional information:

The first screenshot is from my emby provider. It lists everyone in the artist tags under each song.

The second screenshot is from LMS. It lists no artists.

Reproduction steps:

Metadata issue. I’m not sure how to replicate.

This is more questions for LMS author @itm

If all song artist are the same as the album artist by default they are not shown as bring nothing.

You can force in the settings. But you probably need to change LMS settings for the tag separators to show multiple artists and not just one.

Or see with @itm why the artists are not split.

It’s the same files in both screenshots. Just the top us being read through emby, and the bottom through LMS.

So the artists tag in both would be : Neil Young; Crazy Horse. But Symfonium is only displaying that information through emby.

Yes and as you may have guessed Symfonium displays what the provider provides.

I use LMS as my main provider, everything works correctly with it.

Hello, can you send me one of these files at [email protected] ?
I guess tags are not multi-valued and that emby somewhat split by default

Ok. Files sent over. Thanks!

Is this connected or separate from how I get artist images?

This is all the same Symfonium display what the provider sends.

LMS does not scrape internet for images you need to put them at some defined locations that @itm will explain

ok. Also @itm , I’m sending a second email with examples of albums that show up when you search for them, but do not show up under the album artist page.

this one might be synfonium. If i deselect “sort by type” all the albums show up. If i select “sort by type” the affected albums are missing, even though they have that tag applied.

No idea what you mean but again Symfonium displays the data that the provider sends.

I uploaded two screenshots for comparison.
You’ll see when “group by album type” is deselected every album is shown.
When “group by album type” is selected, the circled albums are no longer visible on the artists page.

Just scroll down ?

They probably have bad release type tag as your album/compilation/remix or ep/compilation that LMS does not parse into separated values.

Check LMS interface and you’ll see the same thing.

But: I’m interested in the left bar with the multiple search buttons.

What device is this? Do it always happen ? Is this is a display issue or all the buttons goes to search ?

Ha, yes. Of course i did scroll all the way down. I’ve attached a screenshot showing more of the page. They are just no where to be found when sorting by type.

I just checked LMS, and yes, all three show up:

I didnt manually adjust the album types when tagging. These are directly what mbz labeled them as when using picard.

As for the search buttons, I’m using a fold4. But they’re not really an issue. I think that’s just from me scrolling further down the page for the screenshot. There is only one search icon in normal use.

Those 4 are missing @itm if this is actually really the default MB tags you probably should split on/ by default too. @Bigmack3000 you should send him one song of that group.

I’ll need logs containing a full sync to see the data LMS return for those.
Or upload one song of each 4 albums to https://upload.symfonium.app so I can repro here.

Ok, I’ve uploaded one song from each album to that link.

Also, I submitted logs earlier today. It was a large file, so I think it included syncs.

Well it works ok after a scan in LMS 3.55

And I can’t find a log with your name that have a sync. Only a very small one.

Hmm, ok. I’m going to delete the whole library from symfonium and re add it. Because it also left me with a very large number of artists:

A lot of which are empty, but still showing up even though i have “remove empty artists” selected. So if it still happens, I’ll have a fresh sync log to upload:

Empty artists are usually composers on some songs only.

You can filter them in the artist view if needed.
