Hello,
I bought Symfonium on the Google Playstore but since then I got rid of Google Play Services. Is there a way to provide proof of purchase and data about my phone to recieve an APK that works on it without Google Play Services?
There is no possible migration between Play Store licenses and Ko-fi licences, as the process is very manual and I’m actually loosing money on the long run.
Quite a pity, I liked the product but out of nothing but principle I would refuse to buy another license for a product I already purchased.
Yep I also had a free new electric car when I wanted to ditch gaz
Google have a monopoly and prevent sales outside of Play Store and impose their rules.
The workaround actuality cost me money to provide a solution for people but I’m obviously the very bad guy, not the greedy mega corp
Seems people are completely out of touch with app prices.
Symfonium is as of now 3000 hours of work and monthly updated for a lifetime license of 6$. Just that concept is actually not possible if you think a little.
On those 6$ there’s VAT, Google share, then local taxes, then personal taxes.
So on a 6$ sale on Play Store I actually have something like 2.5$ that I can use… In a country where this is 1/6th of one hour of work at McDonald
Degoogled license takes me time to manually manage them for life too, so after the 2nd phone change I loose money.
So maybe just maybe your principles should be targeted better.
I don’t decide what price you charge nor where you sell your product. Your sarcasm seems to be cheaper than your app license <3
On a serious note, there might be more users facing the same issue in the future, making it clear that buying a google license won’t be eligible for a migration would be a good way to prevent this sort of tickets happening in the future. Burying it at the end of a post on the forums seems to be the root of this confusion.
I will be switching to another app, feel free to do whatever you want with this feedback. I am sorry that you felt personally attacked by my statements.
Well it’s written in Google Store actually And the FAQ
And since you missed the important part I’m not allowed to talk about anything related to purchases outside of Play Store on anything accessible inside the app to not get banned.
So well I actually don’t have a choice Have a nice life outside of Play Store. And instead of whining do your part for laws to force Google to allow those things.
It starts to happen but they still do everything they can to fight back and delay.
Seems a lil petty. Why such resistance to spending a few more dollars (we’re not talking about a copy of Adobe Creative Suite here) that would go directly to supporting the one man show that is behind the app you enjoy? Especially when a license outside of Google Play doesn’t get a significant portion taxed by Google.
Or, if you really don’t want to pay again, just keep Google Play Services and the Play Store on your device, but disabled. You’ll only need to re-enable it periodically (about once a month has been my experience) when Symfonium complains about not being able to validate the license?
I elect to pay a monthly donation to support the app… so getting upset over a few dollars because you choose to remove the Play store is wild, but do you, I suppose.
Nothing Tolriq said even registers on his scale of sarcastic remarks… try being an asshole and see what more he’s got

Thanks for the disclaimer
It really isn’t about the money, I simply don’t feel like it was made clear enough that the license couldn’t be migrated over, thus regardless of whether it’s one dev or a big company, I can’t help but feel swindled. I’ll just use a different app and move on, I’m assuming there are no hard feelings on either end. Thanks for offering me an alternative with the google play services thing regardless .
And you keep writing the same : [quote=“Oreoezi, post:8, topic:10923”]
it was made clear enough that the license couldn’t be migrated over,

Again :
It’s written in the FAQ and it’s already risky for me to write it there… What part about I’m not allowed to write anything about purchases outside of Play Store anywhere in the app or on places accessible from the app don’t you understand? The FAQ being accessible from the app.
Google ban accounts for that, so again blame the Google not me …
I’m risking everything to provide a solution for people to use the app without Google, so stop blaming me for your inability to read or properly understand the situation.
You are free to not want to pay again, but stop accusing me without even trying to read what I wrote. You did not read the FAQ not my fault. All the rest is Google fault.
I’m sorry you feel this way. I was under the impression that we agreed to disagree and moved on from this conversation. There are a ton of things worth getting upset over or holding grudges for, this is not one of them. I will mark your initial reply as the solution. The only thing that I would like to clear up is that I am aware of Google’s practices and am in no way a supporter of them, thus don’t paint me as such.
And yet despite saying you understand Google behavior you still wrote I simply don’t feel like it was made clear enough that the license couldn’t be migrated over .
So please tell me what should have been done since you continue to maintain this claim and keep saying even now that you are right to write this?
If this is not a rhetorical question, I suggest adding this as part of the FAQ on the front page (i.e symfonium.app/Wiki) since there seems to be free space for it in the bottom right.
Besides that, a checkbox before purchase to confirm that the user is aware that their license cannot be migrated over, without giving explicit details on alternative ways to purchase a license, would probably be allowed by Google, although I can understand how that can be overkill or an unnecessary risk.
You mean like the already present entry that says it’s tied to the Google account and requires Google Play ?
Single purchase or subscription?
Symfonium license is a one time purchase, lifetime access to current features. The license is tied to your Google account and can be used on all your Google Play enabled devices.
Again I cannot just remotely evoke that there is other purchase system, that’s why the current solution is not even mentioned as purchase system, but workaround via donations to reduce risks … So no again, I can’t put anything inside the app …
So I don’t know what more you want me to add on this IMO very clear text.
