Whenever I start my app, the animations lags in it for initial 10-15 seconds, that includes loading of home page, scrolling the tracks, entering other options like “Recently added tracks” from home screen or library etc.
This lag goes away in 10-15 seconds of starting the app, but I still face jittery animations when entering into other options like “Recently added tracks” from home screen or library etc.

Force stop the app, then open again to see initial 10-15 seconds lag. For the rest jittery issues, it is present continously
If you are playing directly from google drive which give you compressed video you might not notice the lag/jitteryness, you need to download the video and play locally to see clearly.
You can see the lag/jitteryness when I opened tracks at 00:06. scrolling lagged for 2 seconds from 00:08 to 00:10.
There’s also minor lag when I opened recently added album at 00:16 and when I opened albums at 00:25
Earlier I thought that the jitteryness is limited to my device only but I tested 3 devices and all 3 of them have this jitteryness
In the logs the images are still being extracted and not yet cached this triggers a lot of disk access that will slow down queries on lower end devices. The more images are cached the less this happens.
I only mentioned about poweramp or other apps because you said this, meaning the app lagging is due to my device being “low end“ , if that would be the case then other music players which plays local files won’t work perfectly fine. This was the only moto of bringing this up, there was no need of being salty.
In the logs the images are still being extracted and not yet cached this triggers a lot of disk access that will slow down queries on lower end devices.
This is a full sentence, you can’t just ignore the first part …
I did not ignore the 1st part, I just addressed the jist. I addressed a problem to you, you said that according to logs, it occurs due to xyz, which is common in low end devices. To which I responded if this is due to my device being low end the this would have happened in other apps also, as like symfonium, they are also playing from my local storage in the same device. And if they are playing fine in my device, then the issue is not my device. To which you replied then use those apps.
The thing is man I don’t want to fight, neither I have time to do it. I just came to report this issue because I like many features of symfonium and if this could get resolved then I can shift to it as I can bear jittery animations, which would make experience better for me and for everyone else. That’s why I took the time to report it and see if there’s any solutions, else why would I type these paragraphs explaining my issue, if I haven’t liked the app?
the images are still being extracted and not yet cached this triggers a lot of disk access
This is not XYZ this is a specificity of Symfonium that I clearly describe …. Meaning that when all are extracted the issue won’t be there anymore.
So yes you ignored the explanation and jumped on other apps does not have the issue, without taking time to read what I wrote and so that other apps probably don’t do that. So you compare apple to oranges and clearly stated again after when reminding you that Symfonium have to handle a million more cases that those other apps.
So yes what I wrote is important, if you don’t understand a part, ask for explanation don’t ignore and write irrelevant remarks.
So symfonium extracts album arts of the songs and caches it, irrespective if they are being played from local storage or via a media server? Any way to know when symfonium has finished up cacheing the images? so I can test if it still lags or not.
Also this is a bit weird thing that when I added a plex media source with (>15k songs) along with my local storage songs (250 songs), then the ui is relatively smoother as compared to when I only used local storage songs. And when I deleted plex media source, and only local media was there then, the weird stutters that I showed in video started appearing.
Images are extracted on demand and optimized. If you have 250 songs inside 15k they’re barely used so not extracted, caching from the server is a lot less disc access so well it’s logical
This is confusing, using local storage (250 songs) is more resource intensive than having a media server with 15k songs, shouldn’t this be opposite since in case of local storage, the songs are literally there on the device to be accessed, which should give better performance as compared to media server. Can you explain this?
Also is there any way for getting media server like performance when using local storage while using symfonium?
Hey dev, just purchased the app, as I was truly impressed by the customizations and the sheer availability of the options that symfonium offers, but while using the app using local storage as media source, I faced many stuttering, jitteriness issues in opening now playing screen from mini player, skipping songs etc.. Hoping that you would give your love in improving local storage performance of symfonium, so that it becomes a no brainer for me and I can finally switch from poweramp to it.
