Issue description

Hi,

I’m having a problem syncing my Jellyfin music library with Symfonium.

Symfonium successfully connects and authenticates with my Jellyfin server, but when I manually start a sync from Sync Manager it immediately completes showing:

0 tracks in 0 seconds

No music is imported into Symfonium.

Setup

Media provider: Jellyfin
Jellyfin version: 10.11.10
Jellyfin is running in Docker/CasaOS on a Linux server.
Android device: Samsung SM-A556B

The Jellyfin server itself is working correctly. I can browse and play music normally through both the Jellyfin web interface and the official Jellyfin Android app.

The Jellyfin database currently contains approximately 28,431 indexed audio tracks, and Jellyfin can access and play the underlying FLAC/MP3 files normally.

Troubleshooting already performed

  • Confirmed Jellyfin server is running and accessible from the phone.
  • Confirmed music plays correctly through Jellyfin web.
  • Confirmed music plays correctly through the Jellyfin Android app.
  • Removed the existing Jellyfin provider from Symfonium.
  • Added Jellyfin to Symfonium again from scratch.
  • Successfully authenticated using my normal Jellyfin username/password.
  • Ran a fresh sync.
  • Symfonium still immediately reports 0 tracks in 0 seconds.
  • The Jellyfin music library itself has been verified and contains approximately 28,431 indexed audio tracks.

I also previously tried Jellyfin 10.10.7 because I had seen reports of Jellyfin 10.11.x compatibility/sync issues with Symfonium. However, the existing 10.11 database was not backwards-compatible with 10.10.7, so the server was restored to 10.11.10. Jellyfin 10.11.10 is now running normally again.

Reproduction steps

  1. Open Symfonium.
  2. Jellyfin provider is connected and authenticated.
  3. Open Sync Manager.
  4. Start synchronization of the Jellyfin provider.
  5. Sync immediately finishes showing 0 tracks in 0 seconds.
  6. No Jellyfin music appears in Symfonium.

This happens every time.

Expected behaviour

Symfonium should retrieve and index the music library exposed by Jellyfin.

Actual behaviour

The Jellyfin connection authenticates successfully, but Symfonium imports zero tracks.

Logs

I enabled Symfonium Debug mode immediately before reproducing the problem, ran one Jellyfin synchronization, disabled Debug mode immediately afterwards, and uploaded the logs using Share logs with support.

DermotL - Jellyfin sync returns 0 tracks

Could you please check the logs and tell me why Symfonium is seeing zero tracks despite Jellyfin itself successfully seeing and playing the music library?

Thanks,
Dermot.L

Your logs show that Symfonium finds your Music library, but Jellyfin returns successful responses containing zero artists, albums, and tracks when Symfonium requests its contents. This explains the immediate “0 tracks” result.

One discrepancy: the server identifies itself as 10.11.11 in the logs. Please confirm that the working Jellyfin web interface uses exactly the same server address and account configured in Symfonium.

If they match, please share the Jellyfin server logs covering the synchronization on September 17 at approximately 17:22, according to your phone’s clock. We need to establish why Jellyfin’s library queries return no music despite the tracks being available in its web interface.

Absolute legend, Tolriq — thank you!

Your comment about the server/address discrepancy finally led me to the problem.

Symfonium was configured to connect to 192.168.0.171:8096. Because it authenticated successfully and could see my Music library, I assumed it was connecting to the correct Jellyfin instance.

After your reply, I opened that exact address in a browser. Jellyfin loaded and showed the Music library — but when I opened it, it contained 0 albums and 0 tracks. That explained exactly what you were seeing in the Symfonium logs.

I then checked the Jellyfin instance I normally use, which contains and plays my full music library. That is actually running at 192.168.0.171:8097 and reports version 10.11.10.

I changed the Symfonium provider from port 8096 to 8097, ran the sync again and BOOM — Symfonium is now pulling in my entire music library! :tada:

I’ve spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to figure this one out, so your observation in the logs was the clue I badly needed.

Thank you very much for taking the time to look through the logs and point me in the right direction. Absolute legend! I could hug you & buy you a beer:clinking_beer_mugs:
