Still playing around with the new update settings, but is there a way to display the full artist image on the image page? All of mine are squares, but even at the largest 512 setting, the edges are being chopped off.
If you look in the settings for Artist page, you are setting the “Header size”. The header is intended as the background.
Use the “Image size” instead to show the full image.
I had asked the same a while ago. Cheers!
Yea, I tried that. Its a little bit of a three bears situation. Header is too big. Image is too small.
But I’ll make the image one work. I’ll put a blur header behind it maybe.
Does that not crop the image? I’ve not found the exact value where the header becomes square instead of rectangular, but for any other value the sides of the image will be cropped somewhat.
(Look at the position of the dude on the right. Edge of the pic is just past his sunglasses. Now turn the Image back on and see where the edge of that pic is. I assume it’s farther out from the sunglasses.)
Edit: plus the header will have the status bar and camera punch in the way.
The width is contricted to how many pixels your phone has. So no doubt some pictures if they exceed x amount of pixel width wont show everything. I don’t see how your meant to work around that without reformat.
You toggle hide the status bar in the settings
Camera punch has never bothered me on my phone as it sits rather high with minimal image disturbance.
This one’s pretty square. But like I said it depends on what width x height pixels your image is. You could test uploading a perfectly square artist image to your server. I reckon its possible to get exactly 4×4 in Symfonium then.
This is the closest to square artist image I have and adjusting the header size does exactly what I was saying. If you wanted uniformity, you’d have to reformat all artists images to the exact same size.
Even with a square artwork, you can get the header to show mostly perfectly in portrait… But then the header in landscape will still clip the top/bottom at the same slider value.
The Header always scales to the width of the display first. Then the height we select on the slider determines the aspect ratio displayed. There’s no way to have that work for both orientations unless your screen itself is square.
(Mind you I’m not complaining. Using “Image over Header” works well enough for my needs. Just pointing out that “Header” is not perfect for everyone.)
But as far as this is concerned, it’s just a mismatch of aspect ratios. If the “Art box” and the artwork are not the same ratio, there’s only two things that can happen:
- Touch from inside:
The full artwork is displayed and you see some dead space on the sides of the “Art box”.
This is how “Image over Header” works
- Touch from outside
The artwork is cropped to fill the “Art box”.
This is how “Header” works
My only complaint is that the “Image over Header” is locked to always be a square aspect ratio. So it will always crop your artwork if it is not square. (Despite a rectangle possibly fitting better.)
Edit: paired with forced margins on this “Image over Header” preventing it from being full width.
(Which again, I personally don’t mind. Blurred background looks nice.)
That’s the second image I posted. It currently cannot be expanded to fit the full square.
All of my photos are squares. I ran a script giving them all the same dimensions.
