See this video, the highlighed button is pretty much impossible, or extremely difficult to distinguish from other buttons… the highlight should be much, much more obvious, like the red line around this feature request box on this website, very obvious, very clear…
not knowing what button is selected, navigation is very difficult.

This came up on the Discord not too long ago, so I will mirror the info I wrote there. Tldr: the highlights use colors from your Color Theme, but the forced transparency of the highlight somewhat hinders visibility of even the brightest colors.
onSurface and primary are the color slots you are looking for. There are at least two different highlights
Do note that the UI highlight has forced transparency on it, so you won’t get any solid, vibrant color on it

Today on my Android TV box, the highlights were nearly invisible. I’ve got really sensitive eyes for colour matching, did colour correction as part of my work in video production… and yet the highlight of the blue rectangles was almost impossible to distinguish which one was selected. I was busy choosing which buttons to have on the left side of the home screen, and a large popup of choices are all blue, with no dicernable outline, only blue and a very slightly different blue.
Please add the ability to have a universal bright, solid outline for the currently selected item… ?
