Feature description
I like to create a playlist of my favorite songs for each band. So I have a Rolling Stones playlist that contains just my favorite songs from them, a Yes playlist, a Led Zeppelin playlist, etc.
It would really be interesting to be able to create a hierarchical playlist where I could simply include other playlists that I have already created. It would basically be a playlist that contained pointers to other playlists.
Then I could create something like a “hard rock” playlist where it’s just pointers to other playlists I have already created.
The advantage I see would be that say for example, the Rolling Stones just brought out a new album. I could add the couple of songs I like from it to my “Rolling Stones” playlist and then every other playlist I have that points to the “Rolling Stones” playlist would automatically be updated.
i.e. Rather than having to add those couple of songs to a bunch of playlists, I only add them to the base playlist and all playlists that pointed to the base playlist automatically have the new songs. Likewise, if I remove a song from a base playlist, then it’s automatically removed from all the other playlists that pointed to that base playlist.
Problem solved
I could update a base playlist and all playlists based on it would automatically update.
Likewise, if I remove a song from a base playlist it would automatically be removed from every playlist that was based on it.
Brought benefits
In my system it would greatly ease the management of playlists.
Other application solutions
I’m not sure I’ve ever seen it before.
